Garden Design Project: Rural, Arts & Craft, Classical & Traditional
Classical, Traditional Arts & Craft Design Concept:
This rural site is a total of 40 acres of land originally green field & developed during post war as a RAF radar station. Unique in its position, reasonably level at the top of a hill, surrounded by native hedging with nothing that over looks the site. The expanse of open sky makes one feel that you are standing upon the moon .... so I would imagine. The quality of light on a day such as here is similar of that in the south of france.
The project is long term & will be developed over the years to come.
The garden design will create `zones` which will be developed, these zones will be indentified by the clients brief, requirements, wish-list & also by what the site is `saying` to us. The zones will create differing & diverse spaces within the garden which as a whole will flow harmoniously. Each zone will be an experience.
The design will have a foundation within classical, traditional, formal framework `framing` the property flowing into less formal zones. An `Arts & Craft` essence will be present.
Zones Include: Traditional orchard, walled garden, a white & purple garden, formal garden with perennial borders, woodland, wildflower meadow & natural pool, meadow.
Whist the bare bones of the garden will have a formal framework there will also be traditional perennial borders, roses & lots of softness.
