Locust Drop-Leaf Table
This drop-leaf table, designed and built for a family in Philadelphia, was originally envisioned as a folding dining table that could be put inside behind a door or the couch. I wanted to make sure that the project worked well for both situations and didn’t look out-of-place when brought inside. I decided to go with the traditional drop-leaf and then went a little crazy on the supporting joinery. In the end the seamless blend of the legs into the supports hides all complicated bits and the simplicity begs answer to the question how it actually works. It’s constructed in black locust with a rubbed varnish finish.
