Millmark Grove
Playful coordinating loft and rear extensions renovate this 1930s end of terrace house in London. With a modern take on a classic material, red wirecut bricks in contemporary bonds have been used at ground floor.
At loft level, large format sienna terracotta tiles were used to clad the dormer, complementing the stack bond of the brick frames that surround the large doors at ground floor.
Internally, a simple palette of timber, yellow and black has been selected. Working with the client’s preference for timber, the colours complement and highlight the external materials and modern living of the owners. Accentuating the high pitched roof of the extension, exposed oak joists line the ceiling, extending across a large rooflight to direct the sunlight.
