Modern Living Room in Buckingham

Modern New Build Living Space Interior Design Project | Buckinghamshire & Northamptonshire

This modern living space interior design project was created within a newly built home, with the aim of transforming a blank, characterless canvas into a warm, personalised and highly functional family environment. Located in Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire, the brief focused on introducing character, bespoke storage and layered design detail to elevate a standard new build into a thoughtfully designed home.

New build properties often provide clean architectural lines and neutral finishes, but can lack individuality, warmth and practical storage solutions. The client wanted a living space that felt considered, inviting and reflective of their lifestyle, while making the most of the open-plan layout and existing structural features.

The project began with the creation of bespoke moodboards, defining a modern yet characterful design direction. A balanced palette of contemporary neutrals, natural textures and subtle accent tones was selected to bring depth and personality to the space without overwhelming its clean architectural base.

Through detailed spatial planning, the living area was carefully zoned to create a clear sense of purpose and flow. The layout was designed to support both everyday family living and relaxed entertaining, with defined areas for seating, media use and display. Particular attention was given to improving functionality through bespoke storage solutions that seamlessly integrated into the architecture of the room.

Realistic 3D renders were developed to allow the client to fully visualise the transformation before implementation. This helped refine furniture placement, built-in joinery design and overall spatial balance, ensuring the final scheme felt both practical and visually cohesive. Material and finish sampling further supported the decision-making process, ensuring all textures, colours and surfaces worked harmoniously together.

A key feature of the design was the introduction of bespoke built-in storage, carefully designed to add both practicality and visual interest. These joinery elements helped anchor the space, providing discreet storage while enhancing the overall aesthetic and giving the room a sense of permanence and individuality often missing in new build homes.

As part of the FF&E selection and procurement service, furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, artwork and decorative accessories were carefully sourced to complement the architecture of the space. Each piece was selected to introduce warmth, texture and personality, helping to soften the clean lines typical of new build interiors.

The final styling and installation brought the design together, transforming the living space into a welcoming, characterful and highly functional environment. The completed interior successfully balances modern living requirements with a sense of individuality, comfort and style.
