WINNER of BEST EXTENSION in 2016 Real Homes Transformation Awards
The house was built in 1904, overlooking Albert Park in Abingdon; described by Sir John Betjemen as England’s finest example of a Victorian suburb. The house had only two owners before our clients acquired it in late 2014. the last significant works to the house were undertaken in the 1970's and covered up much of the Victorian detailing throughout the property. There was a very badly built extension at the rear and the kitchen had very little natural light. Getting out of both into the garden was tortuous to say the least. Our remit extended to replanning the rear of the house. We added a new extension to the property that was sympathetic to the grandeur of the Victorian spaces within. It is unashamedly modern with metal cladding that frames the space within and provides a transition from inside to out.
