Sam's Circles, Springvale Rd, Webheath, Redditch

The garden was named after the owners' Springer; Sam... to whose credit it is that the motivation to upgrade the garden came from. How?
Sam has a habit of running around in the same circle everytime he is let out. Consequently, he has trodden a circular track which has inhibited everything else in the old garden. Hence the design strategy; Sam's Circles!
The aim to give Sam not only more formal route but to add to the area he could exercise.
In addition, the owner made a point of bringing home memories from every holiday excursion in the form of stone or plants. There were 4 favourite places; The Lake District, Pembrokeshire, Japan and English National Trust properties. Thus, the focal point of the design; Sam's circle, was supported by 4 more circles, each of which contains an evolving population of horticultural and geological elements from each favourite region.
The circles contain Oak stepping stones set into Flamingo stone and border by poles used to create the circles. As the site is on a sloping hillside, the 4 small circles have a two step level difference to the main circle.
