"Tree House" Avalon
Addition and Renovation
Winner of the 2018 Master Builders Associations Excellence Award for the Avalon "Tree House" Project - House Additions/Renovations $250,001-$350,000
Finalist in the 2018 National Master Builders Awards selected by the judges to represent NSW in the $250,000-$500,000 category.
Working on the architects home itself we knew we were always going to be under high scrutiny every day as well as careful consideration with the young family that were still living in parts of the house.
The detailing of the project left little margin for error in any of the areas with a high attention to detail required.
Due to the difficult and restricted site access, every element was installed by hand ( no crane access due to close proximity of the gum trees to the house) from the structural steel to the custom made stairs to the six huge 150kg panels of glass that were all meticulously hoisted up 6m+ and installed by sheer man power that was a collaboration between our contractors and Bluestone team members.
Working in a bush fire area, the selection of materials was all non combustible FC and hardwood windows and doors all custom made with timber sliding screens for privacy that all slide externally of the house and Iron bark cladding all which blends beautifully into the surrounding landscape.
