Whole Ground & Basement Remodel

For this project in Tufnell Park, we were asked to convert un unusable cellar into an open plan kitchen/dinner as well as to refurbish the whole house from top to bottom.
We converted the cellar by opening up the whole basement to create an open plan kitchen. This included underpinning and lowering the existing floor level, extensive steel works, Delta Membrane tanking, installation of aluminium sliding doors, bespoke joinery, installation of fire curtain and new finishes from top to bottom.

This particular image taken from well outside the kitchen gives the best feeling of the space and light created; once many rooms. that at best were dark and dingy. Now a fabulous open plan family space to relax and entertain in.

We thought a good external shot showing the period of the house would be helpful, to create emphasis on what is possible in design and build.

Simple neutral colours accented with a single piece of yellow furniture gives a feeling that this is a place to relax, but also a space with some vibrancy. One can easily see the beautiful craftsmanship of the cabinet making here.

The ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom, is a concept of space and simplicity. It really feels so much larger than it physically is.

The flush storage cupboards above the sofa blend into the room and almost seem not to exist. The original features, such as the ceiling cornice have been lovingly refurbished to their original glory.

The top floor landing has now become open and bright and a space that encourages light from the two windows.

The ensuite bathroom with the simple elegant white metro tiles and beautiful floor ceramics blend well with the accent of colour in the master bedroom. Again white, wood and ceramics adorn this space reflecting the design from space to space keeping a theme in the overall house design.
