scott says - like the flooring. pretty cool how they did the walls with the tables and flowers M: I do not like the floor. Prefer something more uniform and simple. I like the tables w flowers, but prefer they are not built in, rather removable to change if wanted. I hate the mirrors behind them. This picture makes me think of my grandparents old country club....
scott says - i like how the walls curve up to the ceiling here. again i like this kind of marble floor maybe with a less heavy pattern though M:Me too, love the walls to ceiling, does it make the Cielings look lower though? Could this maybe be the transition to the outdoors? These are the same type like Curt explained for our port cochert yes? I like marble for a floor, I would choose to go with more of a natural design in the floor rather than a contrived design. Becomes to busy.
scott says - don't particularly like the walls or ceiling, but i do like the lighting around the walls transitioning to the ceiling. Also, it might be cool to get a huge rug to put down. i know Brent specializes in finding sweet rugs... M: I like that lighting a lot too. Nothing else I like. and do you know how heavy our current rugs are to roll up and move, imagine moving one of this size?
scott says - nice walls. like the detail work with the moulding but not 'over the top' M: YES!!! This is what I was talking about when we were talking about molding onto the walls in a repeating pattern, perhaps with sconces inside or on either side of the defined area. You could leave as is, or add your paintings inside that you want?
scott says - pretty cool floor design (design not colors). what i don't like about this room - i see a lot of ceilings where they paint their moulding gold. not a fan M: OK at the third picture, I have to say,,, this flooring would probably be in my 'hate' pictures. Not a fan of it or anything that feels parquet-like
scott says - i like the wall M: So do I, minus the lower portion 'wainscoting' kind of look. Not a fan of that even in our current house in some places. I also like the wall to ceiling transition. I almost envision the tradition there and also within the ceiling squares to be like an intricate stepped up piece of molding.
M: do we want to incorporate AV into the room? screens from the celing
M: Like the wall to ceiling light transition here again
M" like the ceiling and lit concept, not the chandelier S: i like this too. this is the sort of thing you could repeat like 6 times in the ceiling with the chandelier in our dining room instead of the one in this picture
M: I like this , smaller scale in powder rooms off ballroom? Possibly in cooler colors?
M: like ceiling concept without the ornate designs inside the squares. Do like the idea of the center segment being larger or different some how with maybe a larger version of the chandeliers around the rest of the room ceiling, do NOT like the dome and glass effect in th scented here.
M: Like the rounded, tall windows in close to each other in a row. I am really drawn to this picture
M: bottom pic looking back at the house outside of the ballroom look!
scott says - would be fun to do some sort of feature wall on the far interior wall of the ballroom (opposite of exit to outside). we always wanted one in our whistler place but were never able to figure out what exactly to do M: Maybe.... but NOT this one
M: I really like the idea of a smaller 'second floor' terrace idea... can we dig further down to have higher ceilings?!? I do NOT like how the double staircase makes the little area in the middle separated and seemingly non functional for event layout, I do like how the exit to outside seems framed by it though
M: Top pic, more modern idea of molding around room walls- thicker and against darker walls
M: I really like the look and feel of this room and the entry into it. Don't like the banister design, actually like the pattern on the floor here quite a bit. Could we do a pattern in marble like this at the bottom of the stairs/entry to the ballroom instead of the middle as would be more traditional/commonly seen?
M: NOT the color scheme. Top pic like the outdoor area feel here (if there are easy ways to move and change up to other layouts and furniture for various events.) kind of feels 'lounge for the outdoor huge deck when its not set for an event.
M: light! Love the concept of trailing along the hall and in multiple spaced out segments, do NOT like the shapes of the glass hanging down. They look like Dino bones-yuck
M: In my exteriors idea book, but wouldn't this be beautiful to look down on from the terrace outside. In general I like the feel of being at a resort at our home
Love the lights in to out at varying heights
scott says - i like marble floors for a ballroom. not necessarily the color in this photo but what i like about it is how it is 'seamless' and doesn't have the tile look. Also in this photo i like the design of the walls with the curtains, sconces, a little moulding going up the edges of the pillars... M: YES on floor, the sconces plus the pillars plus the curtains plus the window pains plus ...make me think they couldn't make up their mind what to incorporate so they used it all. Too much going on I like the sconces placement, are you thinking for the non window wall to have some of these jutting out a bit? What if you lost the curtains, and did this idea for the 'pillars' and the sconces and in between sets put the simple molding outline with or without a picture in it?
