@carol beachlady: Can you please give me suggestions on how to worth with 2 cities to reduce light pollution to my west and east? We don't have light pollution from our neighborhood as there are no street lights and neighbors generally don't have high intensity lamps on tall poles. They may have a light on at the front door, but then this is semi rural area, so there is plenty of distance between homes.

However, I do have light pollution from two cities. So, do I write the mayors and councils of each and ask them to please turn off their lights between 8pm and 6am?

We cannot stress enough to use caution when using vinegar as a cleaning product. It will damage natural stone and tarnish high-end fixtures. It is not safe to use on stone tile. When cleaning stone, use only products recommended for stone.

@Martin Bros. Contracting, Inc: I highly agree with you. Vinegar, even well diluted will cause damage over time. Vinegar has its uses, but must be used with caution on any porous surface, sealed or not.

With this "back to the basics" cleaning mode - no chemicals please..... people have been inundated with articles about "natural cleaning" or non-chemical cleaning etc. The tendency is to overuse and that will cause problems over time.

When I use vinegar as a cleaning agent or softener (laundry, oven cleaning, window/mirror cleaning), I make sure I measure everything carefully and rinse thoroughly. When one simply "eyeballs" a measurement, it's generally too much. This happens frequently with laundry detergent, then people wonder why their clothes smell or the machine has odors or gets gunked up.
