Some truly inspiring changes here. The before and after were very helpful. Black is a great accent and improves the entrance by Studio Fabbri no end. The ones with crittal or crittal style glazing are my favourites by far. Great tips.

I think there are some excellent ideas but they'll be dictated by budget and whether the changes go beyond the property's ceiling price, which matters if you know your staying longer than 10yrs. A previous homeowner's renovations left some areas very dark, so they installed a light well in the windowless bathroom and installed a velux window in the stairwell. However, the wrap around extension left the central kitchen very dark with the only light coming through a doorway, that also stepped down into a very small room leading into the garden and granny annex.
The cost to open up the back meant we'd not recoup the money having purchased the property as a temporary solution to live and support my very elderly mother in law.
Instead, when I refurbished the kitchen I requested and had installed a long horizontal window, stealing light from the adjoining stairwell hallway and had kitchen spotlights, a kickboard and under cupboard lighting installed with the pale blue kitchen units. The brown Amtico flooring was changed to a mottled pink and cream which helped to brighten the room, especially on sunless days. I used the room tool through carpet company to see which flooring worked the best Kitchen image taken at night, and the natural hallway light was taken during the day, but images are before we installed the horizontal kitchen window. Ive since painted the stairwell adjoining hallways and landings in a warmer white, to reduce the grey daylight and used a bright white in the kitchen.
