Know the shelving pros and cons
Adding some open shelving to your kitchen will not radically boost its storage, but it can help to soften up the appearance of a space kitted out largely with cupboards and drawers.

‘It can be nice to have just a few shelves to display good-looking items or cookery books,’ says Shikunova, ‘but remember that they don’t make very efficient use of space. If you have a small kitchen and need storage, it might be best to avoid them and install normal wall cupboards instead.’

There seems to be somewhat of a mis-match here? I accept the points about having to clean items frequently - but the space views seem at odds ? ?

I adore Tim Clarke's shelves, so simple with massive storage.

Wild Grapes Wine Cellars

Just a note about wine fridges…its probably a no brainer but its important to locate these units in areas of the kitchen where there is no underfloor heating directly below. Built-in wine fridges in a run of kitchen cabinets or in a kitchen island are ideal locations (as shown above). However, locating them underneath a kitchen desk space with underfloor heating will definitely challenge the unit's abilities!
