Cooking Up Color: 8 Kitchens That Bring the Green
Fresh and crisp or soft and soothing, this color is a natural in the kitchen
Green is a natural choice for kitchens because so many of the foods we cook and eat are also green, and bring to mind words like fresh, rejuvenating and healthy. There are a multitude of green colors to choose from as well as a number of ways to use them. Here are eight great examples of kitchens that embrace green.
2. Of course if you are a green-loving cook, you may want to go all in with the color in your kitchen. I especially like the unexpected dashes of it here — on the interior back panels of the wall and base cabinets as well as on the fireplace brick. My eye dances around with delight taking in the bits of fun green dispersed throughout the space.

3. This kitchen also sports a generous amount of our featured hue, but because this particular green is fairly light, it offers a mellower vibe. Leafy greens and natural wood tones make a pleasing pairing; it’s a colorful combination that doesn’t feel forced.
4. If you prefer bolder greens, think about placing them lower in the kitchen, such as on your base cabinets. This keeps the room from having an imbalanced, top-heavy look.

5. Here’s another super vibrant green, almost a neon green. Trust me, this is one tough color to successfully decorate with, but I think it looks fantastic here because it’s the only bold color used in the kitchen. It’s also placed strategically — dappled around the perimeter — and there’s not too much of it.
Sure, this is not the green to use if you are looking for a soothing, restful space, but rather it’s fun and loud, and it exudes a happy vibe.
Keep in mind that painting cabinets is a job best left to professional painters.

6. Green isn’t just for modern or contemporary kitchens. This transitional-style kitchen features a more toned-down green on the base cabinets. Where the previous kitchen screamed “party,” this one is crisp, soothing and elegant.
7. When the fixed elements in your kitchen are neutral, you can really bring the zing with color or keep it pretty and restrained, as is the case here. Using color in low-commitment ways — for example, through a painted accent wall or furnishings — gives you flexibility to easily change the look.

8. Yellow-leaning spring greens are among my favorite colors to decorate with. You can go bold with chartreuse hues or keep it soft with grape or pear greens. The latter shades are so common in nature that they tend to work almost as neutrals when used indoors. They give a space a boost of color while remaining soothing and organic.
