Design Dilemma: The Perfect Basement Lounge
What Color to Paint It? Where to Put the TV?
It's every kid's dream to have a basement playroom, and adults also love a low-key place to kick back with friends. Houzz user sandbridge is in the process of converting his basement into a space for both kids and adults to play and lounge in and is looking for some color and furniture layout advice. Click here to see the question and offer your suggestions.
The first dilemma user sandbridge must tackle is what color to paint the walls. "My wife likes bright colors and I prefer more neutral," he says. "We thought about accent walls to bring in color, but can't figure out what walls to use. The rest of our house is a light gold color, so nothing in that spectrum."
The space is large (1,500 square feet), so sandbridge plans to use moldings to visually break up the expansive walls. "We just don't want a big colored box." Click this link to post your color ideas.
"The corner fireplace is also a challenge, as is TV placement — currently you see the side of it when you enter the space," sandbridge says.
