I would say that unless you are a kitchen designer you do not need to know all these recommended dimensions as whoever you choose to design and supply/fit your new kitchen will have all these on hand anyway. Changing the layout as far as plumbing and electrics is concerned is costly so you may be limited to sticking with what you already have. Just remember that you are going to use the kitchen so don't be too influenced by any radical suggestions they may have. It might also help to have a massive chuckout first so that you don't buy storage that you don't require. Consider having an independent kitchen designer design you a kitchen and then source it.

Isla, totally agree. I have lived in my house for 3 years before renovating the kitchen so already knew what in the current layout was working. I had a few different designs and everyone was suggesting not to put the hob on peninsula but I was convinced that this would be the best solution for me so I could watch kids while cooking. Now 4 years on, I don’t regret my choice at all.
