Storage Solutions: Using Vintage Trunks and Suitcases
Here is a great way to utilize vintage suitcases & trunks without going anywhere. As I looked through Lockette's home last week, I was especially struck by her collection of vintage suitcases. They looked so cute stacked in a corner with a fan on top, and then they made great display pieces for her goods at shows. She can also use them to store items at home, and to transport her cards to shows. I'd say she is getting a lot of use out of those suitcases!
Likewise, a lot of us have inherited the giant trunks our grandparents used to pack when traveling. I don't know about you, but I can hardly drag mine across carpet, so I still don't understand the logistics of how these people got these on and off trains and to their destinations! These days, we are much better served by them when we use them at the end of our beds for blanket storage, as side tables, as coffee tables, or as storage benches. The great trick is that when they are posing as a table, they can be secret storage boxes at the same time.
Let's take a look at how the Houzz community is using vintage trunks and suitcases these days. If you see any more or have photos of your own, please share them with us in the comments section!

As mentioned above, these suitcases serve Lockette well, and as a bonus, they look very cute!
Painting these white and using them for a beach cottage bedside table is BRILLIANT!
Here a vintage trunk is encased in lucite to form a graphically exciting and unique conversation piece. This trunk is definitely more for show, unless you put something in there you don't want to access for many years!
These small ethnic-patterned trunks (what is that? Moroccan? Amish? I have NO clue!) are an interestint addition to this rustic country pad.
This is the traditional trunk-stuffed-with-blankets look, except they have doubled up and stacked a vintage suitcase atop the trunk.
Here a wooden trunk makes a lovely side table.
