Chinese Sideboard, Crackled with Flowers
Asian Living Room
Gansu, circa 1920
Originating from Gansu province this pretty cabinet was originally made to store grain. It has been converted into a more practical sideboard by creating doors from what were once fixed panels on the front. A new finish has been applied to the cabinet, with a wonderful crackled effect in the lacquer. Pale blue and green mixes over the original browns and reds to give an unusual, colourful palette. The original floral paintings on each door are in warm shades of pinks and yellow with green foliage, set within a cream square background. An eye-catching accent piece that would make a wonderful storage cabinet in any room setting.
