We opened up the front reception room to connect with the rear extension and allow the evening light enter the space. This photo shows how the gold-coloured artwork above the dining table catches the light and draws you into the space. The exposed yellow beam also brings a colour pop to the space. The dining table is framed by the full-height pantry cupboards either side. The existing chimney breast was retained to save on costs but linked to the joinery via a thick oak timber mantlepiece/shelf. If your table hasn’t been sold with matching chairs then you have some extra flexibility to select dining chairs that suit your desired dining room feel. For traditional dining rooms you will want to opt for a full set of high backed formal dining chairs, whether these are upholstered, leather or wood framed. If you are looking for a more informal dining room, then a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as moulded plastic and even metal can be a great way to achieve this.
