Estate Lodges, East Grinstead
Country Kitchen, Sussex
These kitchens belong to two lodges that form part of a stunning rural estate. Both needed complete modernisation and new kitchens. With both sets of owners leading very active and outdoor lifestyles, the key element to the design brief was practicality.
Our customers wanted the kitchens to be differentiated in the colour scheme but share a common style. They wanted a design that would fit the lodges’ ages but give them a more contemporary update.
Shaker kitchens are robust, practical in design and with a timeless style, making them ideal for this brief. We used a lay-on shaker door and a woodgrain finish in both kitchens. The lodge featuring the blue range cooker is painted in the classic Partridge grey throughout and has matching carcasses. The lodge with the black range is painted in Gairloch Beach for the kitchen, with contrasting Arlington Oak cabinets. Gairloch Beach has a lovely warmth to its tone, and the utility is in striking Indigo.
To reflect the age and rural style of the properties, we incorporated traditional butler sinks, which add great character to the kitchens.
The utility rooms are also fitted with a flexible hose or separate hand spray for washing the dogs.
Both kitchens feature quartz worktops. The densely patterned worktop in the lodge with the black range is the fabulous Dakota by Konigstone. This is a lovely dappled quartz and works so well with the tonal colour scheme of this kitchen.
For the other lodge, we used Cullifords Carrara in the kitchen and Cullifords Michaelangelo in the utility room, both featuring elegant grey veining.
