The existing mantel didn't fit the style of the house, so it was replaced with a reclaimed piece of hand-hewn cedar sealed with a clear stain to retain the beauty of the wood's original color. The ceiling was also painted a pale blue to provide a nice contrast to the off-white walls. The custom French return curtain rods paired with the top-tack curtains provide some contemporary flair to the space, and the custom sisal rug with taupe faux leather border really grounds the space. The cowhide zebra stripe pillows also provide a nice contrast to the mustard accent chairs.
