This beautiful stylish Indian Carved Chakki table , also know as a Grinding table is a great addition to our rustic range. Its solid, its hard wearing and it makes a beautiful exotic coffee table in the centre of the room.
Another great idea, you could add a round cushion for a puff or foot stool and create a ethnic, traditional bohemian vibe to your stylish home. I am loving these as outdoor coffee tables, They look great in these long summer evenings .
It looks just perfect here, don’t you think, with the chunky carved candle sticks. Our Indian Chakki table an interior designers must have this season, but very are to find any originals like these.
It has 4 chunky short legs with a craved design on the outside edge running all the way around the circumference, and a metal straps and metal studs.
This superb piece of history originated from India, 100 years old and would look great as a centre piece in a cosy stylish living room or lounge. It would be perfect for a period property or even to add character to a new style home.
These Chakki Grinding tables were a stable fixture in all homes in traditional Indian village life. Originally it would have been accompanied with 2 heavy grinding stones, one placed on top of the other. The top one having a basic handle to rotate round grinding the wheat into flour or Indian spices into powder. The table has a small door on the side to open, where the ground flour or spices would collect ready for cooking.
As all our reclaimed, restored, re-loved treasures, this great Indian Carved Chakki table is a truly unique piece of furniture & shows a level of natural ageing indicative of the life it once lived. This may include some dumps & scratches, all adding to the character & charm of the Chakki coffee table.
