About Us

Deirdre Cullen, ASID Founder & Principle Designer, 2 MIX Interiors The daughter of an artist, Deirdre grew up with a love of fine art and furniture. This appreciation of art and uncommon artifacts is a foundation of her work that often includes collaboration with well-known and emerging artists and artisans. Deirdre studied interior architecture and design at New York School of Interior Design and is an active member of ASID. She has over 10 years of professional experience in both commercial and residential design as an Interior Designer and Project Manager. Butch McCarthy Butch has spent the past 25 years in the Motion Picture Industry working for some of the most acclaimed Hollywood production designers and set decorators. He is on Hollywood's 'go to' list for top set dressers in the Boston area and owns and operates New England's largest movie prop house. His work on numerous movie sets has given Butch a keen eye for detail that encompasses various periods of art and design--including Vintage and Modern—a natural complement to the design style of 2 Mix Interiors.

We selected Deidre"s firm 2Mix for 2 projects: construction of a new 4500 square foot home in Needham ( project management, selection of all colors, fixtures, tiles, furniture) and staging for sale a 3500 square foot home in Dedham. Deidre was a pleasure to work with on both projects. She has an incredible eye for color and for scale and is very customer centric. She prices her work very reasonably, has an incredible work ethic and stood by behind all of her selections even months after the project concluded.

We hired Deidre to help us design our living room. We only have one living room and not a separate family room. Deidre helped us create a space that is both great for entertaining and comfortable enough for our large family to sit together and watch TV, read or play games. Deidre was patient with us and guided us in making choices that are both functional and beautiful. We are so happy with the results and plan on working with her in the future to decorate other rooms.

Deirdre and Butch have been a dream to work with. We had just moved from a condo into a house and had more space than furniture. I was so afraid to make a bad decision, I couldn't make any. I was nervous to hire a designer but knew that I didn't have the time or the vision required to transform our home. Deirdre listened to my needs and was able to translate them into a look that is stylish yet comfortable for our young family. I originally hired 2 mix to help with our living room but that quickly lead to help with every other room in the house. I am thrilled I took the leap to hire a designer but think that we got very lucky with 2 Mix. They are amazing.

Deirdre has an amazing eye! She is an artist when it comes to figuring out space and how specific furniture pieces and art pieces fit within that space. She also has an immaculate sense of color and light. We worked with Deirdre on our living room, dining room and bedroom. She listened and learned what our taste was like and then gave us options of ensembles. We picked one and when the furniture arrived, it turned out to be brilliant. Deirdre really understands and can predict how furniture will look in a room and how it will create an overall feel and environment. She is amazingly talented and she just has the eye. We feel so happy when we come home!

My living room was transformed into a beautiful tranquil space for my family to enjoy. Deirdre put a lot of time and effort into choice of fabrics, colors, textures and lighting keeping my colonial home classic with a modern feel to it. I moved into a new luxury condo recently and needed to replace most of my current furniture. I had less space to work with and wanted to be sure I could still welcome family and friends to "stay a while ". I hired Deirdre Cullen from 2 Mix Interiors as my designer/architect and she turned out to be my salvation in pulling my new home together. Deirdre's approach is consultative; working with her clients and listening to their hopes, dreams and concerns in creating their new space. Deirdre is a professional in her field and has the eye of an artist. She is very patient in explaining design concepts and really helped me visualize what the finished product would look like. She is reasonably priced and I know I saved time, money and frustration by not making the do-it-your-selfer mistakes many friends have made. Highly recommend Deirdre!
