Provided a new roof and gutters. Before I explain know that we were new homeowners moving from another town- we could. It be there all day or even every day to check on the job. Additionally, despite months of research and some know-how, we were novices in many aspects of hiring contractors and living through construction. Additionally, we have a complicated roof - it's choppy and there are dormers on all the windows. Here is what was done well: when they meet with you, when they actually call back, they are friendly and ready to come meet you as soon as they can. Their construction crew was great, hardworking, thorough, and willing to go over things not done well - of which, at the time - I thought were very few. Also, the roof we chose looks spectacular. If you can afford a few extra dollars per square of roofing to get Corning Architectural, I highly recommend it. It's stellar and far cheaper than cedar. Here is what was not done well: - they never, ever return calls and getting to come out is like pulling teeth. And when they do come out, they always promise to send an estimate and/or someone to fix it, and they never do. So then you start all over. - Their estimate was $10,000 more than the next guy - the next guy is one of the best rates in the area but he couldn't do our job for several months - and the price was astronomical. We went with them because they could complete the roof when we wanted it - It had no real problem areas overall except on one flat area. We specifically asked them in in the initial phases to please fix this area of the roof permanently so that it had a pitch and could accommodate all the run-off snow and rain from the high roofs that fed into this small area. They replaced it exactly the same as it was before - flat, with a 2-4" lip enclosure that kept water and melted snow in that space and then left a 4 in. gap next to the house rather than away from there house to empty not only the water of that 14' x 14' square of flat roof but also ALL the runoff from the two areas of steep, high roofing that fed into that square area. We complained at the time of building, They said they'd fix it, which consisted of placing two wood planks on the far side of the flat roof to "push" the water towards the little hole. Instead we get flooded walls and flooding over all four edges that have now created a problem with leaking from our porch into our basement. The price they quoted to us to repair this is crazy expensive. - They did not replace the very old flashing that existed on the previous roof; instead they placed the new roof tiles on the old flashing which was not up to code and is insufficient in places. And they charged me for flashing - despite my complaints. - They left gaping holes in our stucco along the edges of the roof - down to the wood - which I then had to pay astronomical fees to replace - not to mention months of research just to find someone who knew how to do it. - - Within the first winter, several gutters had come detached and I've called many many times - I have a recurring weekly reminder to call - to get someone out here to repair them and I never hear back. Or they say they will send someone out, and they don't.
