I met Bryan at the Alameda Antique Market, liked his creations very much, and subsequently visited his workshop in Oakland. I found him to be open, creative, receptive to my specific ideas about what I wanted. He completed the project, a kitchen table, on time and on budget. His finish was over and above what I expected. I will hire him again when I am ready for my next piece. Thanks!

Bryan is a modern day wood craftsman that transforms reclaimed wood and hardware into beautiful pieces of art. Each piece is unique and is made with attention to detail. If you want quality and unique pieces of furniture for your home, he is the one to go see. I have bought three pieces from Bryan including a custom ordered mirror for my master bathroom. He listened to exactly what I wanted and it came out beautiful exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend him!

I got in contact with Bryan after reviewing his website and reading Yelp reviews. I sent him an email with a idea for a custom planter box. Bryan was quick to respond and after sending him a rather crude sketch of what we wanted Bryan made some suggestions to help ensure the work could be done and done properly. After confirming what would work best he went to work a day later. It took less than a week for him to build, stain, and make a last minute addition to the box and have it delivered. (free delivery within 25 miles) Everyone that has got to see the box loves it, as do we. We will definitely be in contact with Bryan in the near future for additional projects.

Brian built a custom dining table for us last year out of salvaged maple and pine from an old bowling alley in Daly City. It's the nicest piece of furniture we own and is a regular topic of conversation with dinner guests and visitors to our home. It's built to last 1,000 years and is just what we were looking for. Brian's pricing is better than fair and he'll welcome you into his Oakland studio so you can see his stash of eclectic vintage materials and get a feel for how his team works. All in all, a great experience and a great outcome!

We bought four large planters from Bryan made from recycled redwood. They were made and delivered in the agreed-upon timeframe, and to the specs we talked about. AND, they are both beautiful and sturdy. And unique. Everyone walking down the street comments on them. We are totally pleased.

Bryan did an amazing job of creating furniture for my apartment to my custom specifications. Critical dimensions, specific design features, and elegant touches of antique detailing were part of my request, and Bryan worked with me to build furniture that not only functioned the way I needed it to, but looks amazing! Guests comment on it every time, and more than one has become a referral. I will definitely call him when I have the opportunity to furnish or remodel in the future. His stockpile of antique and reclaimed building materials in his Oakland warehouse is incredible. Highly recommend.

We couldn't be happier with the incredible craftsmanship provided by Bryan Appleton Designs. We asked Bryan to create a new queen-sized bed frame with a headboard and footboard that would evoke a relaxed "cottage" feel for our craftsman home. Bryan immediately understood what we wanted and was able to create a vision for it that matched our style perfectly. The bed is also an incredibly sturdy piece of furniture -- (we kid around that in the event of an earthquake, the family should gather under the bed). The construction is exceptional and the materials unique and beautiful Bryan ordered special hardware to ensure that the frame would assemble in an easy but solid manner. Bryan was also very lovely to work with -- very easy to get along with, funny, straight-forward, and reasonable. He involved us as much as we wanted in figuring out the design, color scheme, etc., and provided great guidance and advice at the same time. I cannot recommend him highly enough -- we will surely be working with Appleton Designs again - on a daybed/sofa for our daughter and hopefully new kitchen cabinetry/furniture as well.

I hired Bryan Appleton to build several custom pieces for my business. Our branding and identity was a perfect fit for his use of reclaimed/ repurposed wood. The entire process was a pleasure. From the consultation through the design and installation. Everything was done on time (shocker for most contractors) and came in on budget. I highly recommend him. Very personable too!

My wife saw Bryan's work at the Alameda flea market. We made arrangements to have a vanity and bath cabinet made. I told Bryan to just use his artistic intuition and gave him some color hints. What he made was beautiful and just what we wanted. He is a very talented artist with a great imagination. I hope more people will discover his work. The fact that he works with used materials makes his creations all the more wonderful.

Bryan made a gorgeous table that I saw at an antiques fair. I didn't buy it, but thought about it often for several months. After tracking Bryan down, I found the table and bought it. I wanted benches or stools, and Bryan and I co-designed 2 stools that he custom made for me to match the table. He was fantastic to work with, understood what I wanted, and delivered beautiful stools within budget and time estimate. I would recommend without hesitation!
