Breanne had a bright, modern vision for my den. We had been on HGTV's Love it or List it, and thus room was not done. I wanted it to match the rest of the house. I loved her energetic and fresh approach to the project. The room is literally the center of our house, a focal point for all who enter, and I can honestly say it's become my favorite room!

I first met Brianne when she helped me pick out the lighting for my new house. I was immediately impressed with her knowledge and confidence in her design work. She has excellent taste and I found her to be extremely easy to work with. After our initial work with the lighting, I hired her to help me pull together my home with new purchases as well as the pieces I already owned. I highly recommend Brianne as a talented designer and a professional that is quite easy to work with!

Breanne and I attended Meredith College together to study our dream career of being in the Interior Design field. Although, our hearts took us in separate branches of interior design, she had the confidence to become an entrepreneur and pursue her dream of owning an interior design company. I am so happy that she has chosen this path because I now have an incredible and reliable referral for my customers! Not only is she amazing and talented at design but, she relates very well with customers! I work for a home builder in the Raleigh area and Breanne is the only contact I pass along to my clients to help them furnish their homes. I know my customers are in the best of hands with Breanne and Open Gate Interiors!

Breanne was an outstanding design student and has grown as a professional designer. She works well with clients, addressing their needs and wants with a great eye for a creative and affordable solution.

We moved into a new home and didn't know where to start with decorating. It was overwhelming and Breanne helped use what we had and incorporated new items to our space. We decorated our living room, office and den she she did it all within our budget. She did a great job!

I recently had my kitchen cabinets professionally painted from wood stain to white. I hired Breanne Medlin for a consultation to help me choose a new tile backsplash and wall color for my kitchen. It was a bit tricky because I was keeping my current granite, which had some unusual tones, and I wanted to make sure the backsplash I selected would work. Her rate was for up to two hours and I had assumed that would be adequate time to make a selection (or at least narrow it down to 1-3 options). I felt she came unprepared--she had no tile to show me and in the few photos she showed me on a small iphone, she wasn't able to tell me what specific brand and color the tile was--she didn't know--it was just of photos she saw online. She said she thought beige would look good. After shopping for awhile on my own, I realized there are a lot of different beige's and undertones out there. This is what I thought I was paying for--someone who had experience with color and undertones and could help me choose the right shade and size tile to create the look I was going for. This was my top priority and true purpose of hiring a designer for this project. I was also looking for new wall color suggestions and wanted everything to coordinate with the rest of the paint in my open floor plan. The color she thought I might like was pretty, but not for my space and it didn't coordinate at all with the rest of my downstairs. She did say that she didn't have a lot of experience with color (later on) and usually worked with neutrals. There was definitely a miscommunication on what I thought I would receive and what I actually received. I emailed her my concerns and requested half of my fee back. I thought that was more than fair--she gets half for coming out to my home and her time (1.5 hours) and I get half back for not getting anything out of the consultation, but she declined. She did offer to further help me with tile, but only if I used her crew to install. By this point, I already knew she wasn't the right fit for my project and didn't trust her ability to provide me with good choices. I sincerely hate to write this bad review, but I truly feel wronged here. Breanne is a new business owner, whom I believe is a nice person, but she does not have the experience I was looking for. When she left our consultation she provided no follow-up and gave me no information about what we discussed. I had to email her for the color of the wall swatch she recommended while here and just felt like she really didn't want to see things through.

What can't I say about Breanne!?! I worked with Breanne at a past employer and was amazed by her design ideas, her passion for her customers and her overall personality. She has great ideas that collaborate what you already own with touches of something new or she can start from a clean slate and make it your own. She is very passionate about her work and her customers and always wants the best for them. If there is something you want, she will find it for you! If I wasn't a fellow interior designer I would hire Breanne to transform my space.

I moved into a townhouse and needed help tweaking what I had brought with me. The fabrics she selected for a couple of chairs for the living room and my bedroom made all the difference. She also suggested painting several small pieces of furniture, took them for me to a place she had recommended and returned them! What great service and what a great look!!! All of this plus her prices were super reasonable!

Breanne is a real estate client of mine but I have also referred her to other agents for their home staging needs. She has a great design aesthetic and can do a lot on a reasonable budget. I love that she embraces current styles and trends and has a great eye for color. Her home is beautifully decorated and showcases her talent. Plus, she is professional, easy to work with, and a genuinely nice person. Highly recommend.

After years of frustration in not being able to figure out a consistent design for our house with a hodgepodge of styles and colors from different times in our life, we set out to find some help. That’s when we found Breanne and Open Gate Interiors on Houzz. We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to work with Breanne. She was extremely reasonable in reusing things that we already had. At the same time, she was bold in her recommendations. For example, in our bedroom, we’d have never considered giving up a few pieces of our existing furniture, but Breanne saw that it was way too crowded. Her recommendation in our bedroom made a space that was much roomier and fresh. In our living room, she found the perfect accents in the form of lamps / light fixtures, tables, fabrics, rugs, and most importantly arrangement to make our hodgepodge come together into a living area that we love. Breanne also went above and beyond to stay within our budget while maximizing our money on things that would make the biggest impact. Not only has Breanne done great work for us on both a living room and bedroom, but also she did an outstanding job for my mother. We’d highly recommend Breanne.

Breanne was very up front about her services from the beginning, including costs. She was very conscious about our budget and valued our opinions. She was always honest and professional and tried to get us the best for our money. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a designer that will work with your style and budget.
