Established in 1984, CBA Landscape Architects, LLC offers a full range of landscape architectural services. This award-winning firm specializes in private residential landscape architecture, as well as municipal, institutional, and commercial projects. CBA integrates landscape with architecture; creating a design sensitive to the clients needs and the environment. Founded by Clara Couric Batchelor, CBA Landscape Architects designs a wide variety of landscape architectural projects for a diverse set of clients. We are landscape architects who pride ourselves on our sensitive designs, attention to detail, and service to our clients. Whether working with a homeowner, public agency, architect, or developer, we make the design process flow smoothly. As the lead designer or as a consultant on a team, CBA communicates clearly and encourages dialogue to guide the process. CBA integrates landscape with architecture, creating a design sensitive to the owner’s needs and the environment. Our landscape architects’ strong technical skills reinforce our overall design strengths. Our ability to shape the ground plane to produce landscapes that are both aesthetically and technically outstanding infuses our projects. Our knowledge and use of plant materials is another strength. We use a broad and sophisticated plant palette. Careful and considered detailing and use of site materials is a CBA hallmark, ensuring that we achieve the design’s intent. As an architect who works on smaller residential projects, they often involve smaller lots, tighter budgets and even Zoning relief and public presentations. CBA is experienced, creative, professional and timely. They also are great on more mundane (but even more important) areas like proper drainage and appropriate slopes, scales and dimensions. There is more than meets the eye in any good design.

Clara and her team at CBA Landscape Architects were a perfect fit for me and the landscaping job I needed. She was able to translate my goals and visions into a beautiful -and workable - reality. While disciplined and technically precise, at the same time she was flexible with her plans and recommendatons. In fact she gracefully and persuasively saved me from my own ideas on a number of occasions! She was great fun to work with and I highly recommend her.

We've worked on three major projects with Clara Batchelor and her staff, and I have to say they were not only creative and knowledgable, but also pleasant and professional to work with. They were definitely team oriented and the collaboration between our firm, the landscape subcontractor and CBA worked flawlessly, even though the projects were very large and the schedules demanding. I would recommend CBA without reservation for any landscape design project.

As architects and builders for high end custom homes, PSD has worked with CBA on multiple projects. We have found them to be very professional, easy to work with and good collaborators, with both homeowners and architects. Whether it was a small home on a tight lot, or a house, guest house and pool on over five acres, CBA has proceeded with thoughtfulness and care. They are an especially good choice for the client who appreciates a landscape that is both elegant and restrained.
