About Us

Established in 1988, Clark + Green has grown into a collaborative and talented group working on award winning residential and commercial projects. We specialize in customizing each project to each client and building site, using the latest construction and building design practices, while promoting sustainable and environmentally sensitive design. Successful design is both an artistic and technical expression responding to client needs and we prefer to look for the solution which emerges from the process: from the opportunities and constraints of the site; from the project program and budget; from the special dreams and requirements of the client; and from the inspiration of all the participants in the process. Multiple concepts are presented. Through dialogue and sketches, architect and client develop an evaluation process which leads to an agreed-upon design direction. This is refined throughout the process. Multiple possibilities are generated. Final decision-making is deferred until all information has been gathered and evaluated. Hand-sketches, computer-drawn plans, sections, elevations, and 3-D renderings and models are presented. This combination maintains the flexibility, looseness and creativity of hand drawing, while applying the computer appropriately to support communication and ensure accuracy, building a data base for further design phases.

Stephan Green was terrific to work with on a renovation of our 100 year-old lakefront home. He and his colleagues provided a thoughtful and detailed vision for the exterior and interior design and execution, and were flexible and creative as questions arose during the process. The final results exceeded our expectations for visual appeal, comfort and functionality. We highly recommend their services.

I am a lighting designer with a long history of working with Clark & Green on projects ranging from large commercial and residential, to very small specific-feature projects. They are quite likable, consummate professionals -- very detail-oriented and open to exploring all avenues to get the best design solution for the context and budget. In my practice I collaborate with many dozens of architects, but they are amongst my favorite clients, both because the partnership and communication works so well, but also for the variety of project type we work on together, which breadth of experience I think is an important basis for their strengths as designers.

I worked with Glenn Goble from Clark and Green to design the house I envisioned. He gave me his all to help me understand how to manifest the plans in my head. He showed me what they looked like using CAD, and journeyed through the process with me, patiently and without self interest. We worked through the obstacles together, imagined and brainstormed, and in the end created a wonderful house plan, the home in which I now live. It took me several years to find an architect who would work with me to express my ideas and vision, and not impose on me his/her own. Stephan Green will accommodate the needs of a client,. Most of the time he is called upon to bring to life structures that meet the clients needs and is hired because of his own aesthetics. He is not directed by his ego , but by the demands and needs of his client. He'll give you what you ask him for directly, or by having you work with another architect in his firm he feels more suited to you. He stays involved in the project and everyone in the office is happy to answer your questions and guide you throughout the process.
