About Us

Eugene Justus grew up on a farm in Michigan where his family had lived for four generations. It was a great life where he learned woodworking skills from his father and grandfather. He has been a woodworker for over 50 years. Following a career as an international banker, he established The Old Silverado Trail to make hand crafted live edge hardwood tables. Each table is custom made253-87888 from California claro walnut and other beautiful hardwoods. They are designed for those who appreciate custom made quality. Eugene's goal is to provide you with beautiful tables and other furnishings that enrich your business or living environment.

To Whom it may Concern: Eugene Justus created an outdoor table for me. The workmanship and attention to detail was remarkable. He has the ability to see the potential in wood and can make tables, chairs and more that would complement any showroom. I had the honor of touring his shop and work area. It was clean and well lit, like no other workshop I’ve ever seen. He is not only a fine gentleman, he is an artist.

Eugene Justus designed and built a beautiful western red cedar trestle table for our downtown Napa tasting room. We enjoyed working with Eugene to select the design of the table and the color of the wood to fit our tasting room decor. We needed a community table for large groups of people to sit at and enjoy our wines. He was able to make the table the exact size we needed, which necessitated assembling it inside the tasting room. We couldn’t be more thrilled with our new, beautiful table. It is so unique with the addition of the crushed turquoise. Everyone that comes to our home says “Wow!” when they see the magnificent table on the cow hide backdrop. Plus we can imagine the tree’s history as Eugene discovered a bullet in the wood while making the table; preserving the bullet makes the table even more interesting. It is truly an impressive table and so well built. I am sure this table will be in the family for many generations.
