Jeff Halpern provided outstanding architectural services for our Annapolis Historic District home built in the 19th century. He provided conceptual advice, drawings, plans, and selected and worked closely with the general contractor. His reputation with the HPC which must approve all exterior work is superb, If he requests approval for a project, it is quite likely going to be granted. He was very responsive and when problems arose he got on top of them immediately. He is very amenable to balancing financial constraints with project needs and historic preservation requirements. Our project was not a restoration, more of a modern upgrade which began with taking the house down to the studs and redid the interior while preserving the exterior as required by the HPC. His knowledge of historic structures is unmatched and he taught us a lot about our home. He was extremely attentive to monitoring project spending which can easily get out of hand when working on an old house. We are very pleased with our newly renovated home and our architect was a big part of that result.

Jeff is a gifted architect. His sense of proportion, light and color is outstanding. I love the unique details that have given our home distinctive character and charm. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the local architectural vernacular styles of our area and that informs his work in a soulful way. Jeff was also great with developing a narrative that guided us in our vision and reigned us in when we faced too many choices. Jeff designed our original shingle style home in 1993 which I am happy to say seems timeless in it's clean, open design. He then did the design of our significant remodel of kitchen, family room in 2015.
