Have had ongoing issues with this company since November 2017 with regard to my kitchen glass splashback. Aside from the first one being dropped by the owner, each time one has been put up there have been problems. There have been issues with it being cloudy, there being seed marks clearly visible at eye level (and being fobbed off that it was not visible from 3 metres away so was ok – who stands 3 metres away from using their hob!!) and with the mastic that was used to put one up showing through the day after installation, with 9 big round blobs showing through the back as dark circles. The current glass splashback (the 4th one to physically go up) is “mottled” which has been confirmed by another highly respected local glass company. Despite me phoning Mr Mullane within 10/15 minutes of leaving my property to advise there were yet again issues with the glass splashback, he declined to turn round and come and look at it, and said he would not be replacing it. This is contrary to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, as I have advised him there is a problem, and rejected the item , and given that I have done so within 30 days (actually told him on the day), he has refused to refund me my money. Ever since my dealings with him, my calls and messages have been constantly ignored, and he has always been extremely difficult to get hold of. Due to the fact that the original wall it went on to, was newly plastered and painted, there has now been damage here, as each one has been ripped off due to unsatisfactory quality. The glass splashbacks should also have been “backed” to ensure that nothing from behind showed through, yet they were not. There are clearly issues with the quality, and to be told by his office that sometimes a job can just keep going wrong 23 times, but they want the customer to be happy, is clearly not very reassuring. I wanted it to be right the first time, and I am obviously not happy. Despite advising Mr Mullane that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 he has breached my statutory rights and is in breach of contract, my request for a full refund has been refused. And once again my follow up email seeking resolution, and confirmation of a refund has been ignored. Regrettably, this now leaves me with no alternative but to go to Trading Standards, the Consumer Ombudsman, and ultimately the Small Claims Court. I stuck with this company hoping that he would get things right, but he hasn’t and I am 9 months down the line still with an unsatisfactory splashback. I would hate for anyone else to go through what I have, and would advise you to go elsewhere. And no – I am not someone to normally leave bad reviews. Where credit is due I always make sure I give it. Sadly on this occasion I can only feel incredibly disappointed, frustrated and out of pocket. If a refund materialises, then I will update this post.
