I found Nepheli very easy to work with and she has great ideas. She took my sketch and came up with a design which was accepted by planning despite being a new build in an AONB. She is happy to work collaboratively, so my thoughts on eco building materials were all incorporated without any problem. The finished build has one of the lowest air permeability readings around - 2.2.

My house design is to replace a small 19th C house that stands in the centre of the village green, within the curtilage of a grade 2 listed mediaeval house and that of a 2* listed parish church, both fine examples of the local stonework. The design has successfully reconciled maximising my plots full potential with adding a 21st interpretation of a low carbon village house constructed using materials harmonizing with those of the adjacent listed buildings. This will achieve the Low Energy Building Standard appropriate to its floor area giving a thermal rating of Grade A. Its energy demand will be as close to that of the Passivhaus standard as such a small design permits. It has been good to feel part of the design process and to view the development of the 3D digital models that have allowed me to see what Grand Designs describe as, the Wow factors, that can be produced in a self build project. Theo Green Design maintained a refreshingly proactive negotiation with the District Council planning staff gaining the full support of my neighbours; the Parish Council that facilitated the granting of full planning consent without delay.
