About Us

Pauline Soffa honed her artistic gifts through her many years of work in the performing visual arts including choreography, set and costume design, and dance composition. She has been involved in many aspects of the San Francisco-Bay Area community, civic affiliations, active participation in the performing arts, and support of various charitable organizations. She also enjoys travel and derives inspiration for her work from the many different cultures she has been exposed to through her global explorations. Pauline feels that design should have a profound impact on daily life and is passionate about the essential value of creating a unique, functional and uplifting environment that reflects the personal style of the individual. Pauline appreciates family life and finds that an important aspect of her aesthetic. Pauline completed a program of interior design and architecture at the University of California, Berkeley. With over 15 years of experience, she is an expert in both residential and commercial interiors and exteriors. She have worked on many different projects all with different styles, cost, size and personality. Her goal is to help the client create the type of environment they have envisioned.

Having worked with designers over the years, I can say with complete confidence that Pauline Soffa's work is excellent, the best!. She brings enthusiasm and engagement to the job with broad experience and professionalism, integrity and taste. Her ability to listen, to "get" what we're looking for, and to integrate creative ideas, functionality, beauty and comfort in a satisfying result is impressive.. With commitment to excellent design and craftmanship, she has forged strong relationships with vendors and high quality tradespeople. Pauline Soffa is a delightful person to work with and I recommend her very highly.

We had the pleasure of working with decorator/designer Pauline Soffa on several projects on our home in San Francisco, the most important being the remodeling of our living room and master bedroom in the past year and a half following a plumbing mishap. She was very professional at all times and never late for a meeting. She has access to all the upscale vendors in the area. Her strong suit is her knowledge of fabrics which was very useful as we ultimately decided to reupholster major furniture pieces which were damaged rather than buy new items which were of lesser quality. She brought up a wide variety of high end fabrics in our chosen color palates. Her upholster was superb and we were extremely happy with the final results. Custom work takes a fair amount of time to complete, but the wait was not unreasonable. We would recommend her unequivocally for any decorator home project which a customer is considering.

I recently used Pauline Soffa design for an updating of furniture, colors, etc. for my house. Pauline was very professional and incredibly competent -- as well as creative. Her array of choices for fabrics was wonderful and she helped me co-ordinate all aspects of the job. The updating worked out wonderfully, and I didn't have to replace many items. Many of very fine quality furniture pieces were reupholstered and look like new. It is amazing what you can do with someone who listens to what you might like, and then spends the time to find choices for you. It saved me numerous hours and there is no doubt, that I will use her in the future.

Pauline is a "designer's designer." As a colleague, over the past decade, whenever I have needed a project tweaked, I always go to her for advice and perspective. She is uniquely intuitive in figuring out a client's situation and interpreting their wishes. Pauline has also established warm relationships with those in the design trades and contractors, which fosters their going the extra mile for Pauline (and her fortunate clients!)

Pauline Soffa brings a rare and wonderfully productive set of skills to helping her clients create their ideal environments! She is an expert at looking at space in fresh ways, often helping me find areas in my home that could be lighted, arranged and redesigned easily and effectively, offering a new space - rather miraculous! Her knowledge of color, fabrics, new technology, lighting is impressive. Pauline is also a great listener and quickly understands what I need and want within my budget. A pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic and clever designer.

Pauline Soffa Design has assisted me over the years with acquiring and placing new furniture, carpet selection and arranging for installation, window coverings, and artwork placement. Pauline Soffa is the consummate professional, and does not rest until the job is done and done correctly. She has an expert eye for color schemes and patterns and listens to and is accommodating of the client's needs and preferences.
