Dmitriy Shenker of Shenker architects was able to design a function addition to our two family home, one that would allow the space we were looking for to be added to our existing home while staying within the perimeters prescribed by the building department. We spoke with many architects and were advised that the additions we were looking to make were not possible, however Mr. Shenker was able to design a 3rd floor addition which extremely well. He was accessible throughout the design / build process and was of great help in finally getting our certificate of occupancy when construction was finished. If you are looking for a honest reliable service, you have found it.

We bought our house in 2013 and planned to extend it to fit the needs of our family. We hired an architect for the job and after 8 months and multiple excuses we were not any closer to starting the renovation. Our construction permit application kept getting the objections, one after another. Finally, our structural engineer recommended to us another architect, Dmitriy Shenker. We set up an appointment immediately. First impressions - a professional walked into our house, with a camera. Asked for a couple of hours - to measure everything and to take pictures. After 3 hours (1), he left and we met in a couple of days at his office. Dmitriy offered us two proposals - one was to assume the existing architect's plans and continue with the filed application or to start from the beginning. Since we wasted 8 months with a previous architect, we decided to go with the first. Which meant a lot of work removing the objections on existing application, not making any major changes to the floor plans, and also not knowing this application will still be approved. Dmitriy was very professional each step of the process. He kept us informed after each appointment with the city examiner (yes, there were multiple). But the list of objections was down from over 50 to just under 10 after just one appointment. After 3 months we had a building permit. A very impressive turnaround considering all of the above. I also would like to comment on the quality of architectural drawings and floor plans and how well everything was organized and presented to us (files, drawings, emails). When we were reviewing the plans and making (asking to make) changes, Dmitriy was always patient and offered us his professional advise and opinion. He also gave us detailed explanations of what was and what was not allowed according to the rigid NYC building codes. We are currently still under renovation, but we are confident that we made the right choice by choosing Dmitriy Shenker as our architect. We are looking forward to Dmitriy further assisting us in our needs. Give him a try and you will not be disappointed.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of services and the outcome I received from Shenker Architects. Highly professional and same time very reasonably priced firm. My only regret is that I did not know them from day one when I started my house construction and had to waste a lot of time and money with the other architectural firm whom I ended up firing. Dmitry Shenker was recommended to me by one of the contractors and after my first consultation with him I decided to give my project to his firm. That was the wisest decision I made. I loved the very unique and artistic design options that I was offered. In addition, a very needed structural components were added which were missing in the previous plans. What was even more important is that Mr Shenker has a very good relationship with the DOB and is highly respected there. This helped a lot to get the construction move without any interruptions and all the steps resolved quickly from plans and permits approval until passing all the inspections and obtaining the final CO. I highly recommend this firm.
