South louisiana painting

I hired David Shill to prep and paint my house. He quoted me a total price of $4,375 with breakdowns. He asked me for $800 to get started on the trim repairs. I gave him $1000 in good faith money. The breakdown quote was for $625. This is what the contract says: Trim- replace rotten eon (his typo error, not mine) on walls and windows of house as discussed. Siding, window trim and sophit. $625 Terms Materials provided by South,LA Professional Painting LLC David's worker came for one day of work. He put raw wood right on top of the rotten wood. He used 3/4 " staples to attack 1/2 thick Hardie planks. He put up soffit and left gaps big enough for pest to get into the attic. Please see pictures. We ask David to come explain the shoddy work done. He said we miscommunicated. He didn't realize we wanted a better job done, because he thought it was just a rental house. He said there weren't any studs to nail the hardie board too. (The studs are 30" on center with 6" spaces) all we got was excuses. He did say he would make it right. He said he'd eat the labor cost that day. He said we should check out the house he was working on. So we went. The construction work was just as shoddy and unprofessional. When I asked why it wasn't done properly to code, he said that's how we do it here. I pointed to the nieghbors properly built porch, David said the owner didn't want it that way and it isn't a permitted job. So the header boards were sitting on a screw on the side of the post, instead of on top of them for strength. The my husband asked, why is the 4' board so crooked and not level. David said the owner bought that board and wanted it used. After thinking about it over the weekend, we decided mot to go further with David Shill. David said he spent $150 on materials and $350 on labor for the day of work. I have asked for an invoice and $350 dollars back. David's responses to my request is to ignore the invoice and money issue and to tell me how bothered he is because we cancelled on him.

David and his crew painted all of our old picture windows throughout our house (inside and out). They painted all our chipped and peeling soffit/facsia as well as some weathered doors. David was attentive to details when it came to painting our old windows and was easy to talk to throughout the work process. As with any large job, there were additional items that needed painting that we missed in the original scope of work (including some trim-work needed on old, rotting wood), but David was willing to add them to their workload and priced everything accordingly. David introduced us to his crew that would be painting and he was on-site, working alongside them - something I appreciate after working with many contract companies. His crew were polite, clean and accommodating to our family activities. The finished project was an amazing facelift for our old house! I would highly recommend him for any painting job!

David's professionalism is superb, followed by being extremely polite and courteous. From beginning to end David strived to go above and beyond to make sure we were happy. He also offered his professional advice to help us make the most cost effective and astatic decisions, for the projects we were expecting to be achieved at that time as well as with projects that we wanted to achieve in the future renovation plans for our home. David really made us feel like he had our best interest in mind and that we could trust him and his crew. Thank You David!
