We are currently working on our second project with Stuart Shayman; the first was a beautiful remodel of our master bath; the second, an exciting new dream home. We find Stuart to be a gifted artist with an experienced professional and practical side. He works "hands on", always available for consultation, is patient and sensitive to our wishes in guiding our decisions. We highly recommend, without reservation, Stuart Shayman to design any project, from remodeling to a new home, from conception to completion.

We loved working with Stuart. After looking at remodeling projects for 5 years, we bit the bullet and had him design what turned out to be the perfect mid century modern empty nester home for us!!

Stuart was the first architect we interviewed and it was a match made in heaven. From day one Stuart listened, learned about our needs and produced the house we have always dreamed of. My husband and I had very specific ideas in mind, that being said, our house is very custom. Stuart helped us to bring the beauty of the outdoors in, leading us every step of the way. Stuarts expertise does not stop with his drawings, he was an integral part of picking out every finish and detail throughout our home. Stuart is a pleasure to work with and he does his job in a very quiet and respectful manner and worked extremely well with everyone on our team.

Stuart Shayman is a wonderful and talented architect. He helped turn our backyard into a paradise. He created a large covered area that functions as an outdoor living space. Its design blends well with our existing house and seems like part of the original construction. He also designed a covered area at the front entrance to our home. It also blends well with the existing construction and creates an inviting and protected way to enter our home. Stuart is a pleasure to work with and very responsive. His charges are reasonable and he has wonderful ideas. Our daughter has used Stuart to design a large addition to her home and a completely redesigned first floor. We have all been extremely happy with that work as well. We recommend Stuart highly.

I could not recommend any architect more highly. Stu was the third architect we hired for this massive home project (a completely new home). And not only did he perform superbly as an architect he also located an incredible contractor for us who was just amazing. Stu's many strengths include - being able to work with my extremely demanding, controlling and opinionated spouse to create his dream house. Stu was responsible, timely, efficient, and thorough in his work. His ideas for the project were creative and user friendly. The house is absolutely magnificent. Even though he was not located in our immediate area he was able to manage and follow the project from beginning to end. He was able to work within the constraints of our budget. He allowed the project to continue moving forward at as rapid a pace as was possible in our heavily zoned and controlled area. Everyone who comes into the house comments on what a magnificent home it is. The spaces are the right size and organization. I think I can honestly say that without Stu's ability to work well with all the players involved in this project, his sensitivity to the budget, and his creative solutions to problems that we would never have been able to complete the project and would be living in a partially completed house! I can't imagine a better architect. Even though our style of home was not the type that he was used to designing he was able to easily work with us. We also used some new building techniques - including SIPS panels for the construction along with a new radiant floor heating system, he was able to easily learn the new areas of construction. For a time we had a designer associated with the project who turned out to be impossible to work with in the end. Stu, however, worked well with him while he was still engaged with the project and never complained. We ultimately fired the designer (I think he thought we needed him more than we needed Stu....he was very, very wrong). There was no question.

The architect was faced with a very difficult challenge, to take a 100 year old clapboard house that was 1200 square feet in area and transform it into a 1800 square foot house with an open floor design all while preserving the historical character of the residence. An exceptionally clever design was employed that resulted in what is considered one of the most outstanding homes in Ann Arbor. We could not have been happier with the result.
