I approached Chris after reading a few reviews on Houzz and reviewing his past projects. His approach to our project has been truly unique. We had the opportunity to explain what we wanted to achieve and he helped us create a vision for our dream home. He listened to our needs and made plans that not only incorporated all the elements that we wanted but also maximised the space we had available. We are new to project design and he has opened our minds to better ways to design our home, that was more cost-efficient and energy saving, whilst taking into account the current development laws in our area. There were factors that we did not consider like the amount of natural light available and how to maximise this in the design of the property. Chris is exceptional at what he does and the ultimate professional. I approached Chris last November after moving into our new home. We wanted to completely renovate the house along with building rear and side extensions. Chris was able design the project from start to finish and was always available to offer advice and make alterations when required. Planning permission obtained through Chris and I hope to start the project next year.

Looking to get an extension to my bungalow. I contacted a few initially for comparison. I actually found Chris from the Houzz website. Chris responded quickly, and unlike some other architects, Chris was happy to work in stages and bring in service only when necessary (site survey in particular, and it was not necessary at the end as Chris has enough experience to work on this). As you can imagine, this helps to avoid cost. During the various phases, Chris was very responsive and very patient with all my questions. We have a few, what I would say un-reasonable responses from the council during the planning application. Chris explained the details to me and dealt with them efficiently. The planning was approved and Chris put together the build drawing and able to recommended a couple of very good builders. Unfortunately during the course of approx. 9 months (council mainly, then busy time for the builders, and holidays over the first summer after lock down), the materials price has gone up significantly so I have to park the project for now. It is difficult to capture all the detail but in summary, Chris is experience, responsive, patient to explain the detail and happy to work within my constraint. I would 100% recommend Appropriate Design solution to my friends.

Chris was great with us, always happy to jump on the phone and make changes. It took us a long time to get it exactly right but he was so patient.

Chris was a pleasure to work with and took us from the blank sheet of paper all the way through to concept and design and submission of plans to authority. We had a number of remote meetings and were able to soon get a good feel for the design as Chris used a 3D model which helped us visualise much better how our new space would look and be lived in. Chris delivers a highly professional and timely service. He produced drawings from our specifications that required few amendments. From our initial consultation to getting planning permission, Chris was calm and ready to offer his advice on discussing our plans with neighbours while dealing with local council objections. We hope to continue to work with Chris as we continue our project and have only the highest recommendations for his service.

Chris worked with us on plans for a new garage outbuilding and office space for our listed farmhouse. He listened to what we wanted and spent the time on refining them into something we were really happy with. We will be asking Chris to help us again for our next project straight away.

Chris offered good suggestions and guidance. Consultations had to be via Zoom but good use of virtual design tool that allowed us to see what the proposed build and alternatives would look like from inside and out. Plans submitted have been approved.

We contacted Appropriate Design Solutions as we wanted more space and a new porch. Following our initial enquiry, we arranged an initial phone consultation with Chris during which we found he had already conducted open source research on our property. This allowed him to straight away identify how the current layout of the hallway was inhibiting both light and space without any prompting. As these were key concerns for us, it gave us reassurance of his knowledge and understanding of our needs and requirements from the onset. Chris has continued to provide support throughout the project lifecycle. He produced both plans and 3D designs of our house which he has used to share his ideas and designs. As our project has been during lockdown, this way of working has allowed designs to be shared virtually using over Zoom/ MS Teams calls in the evening at times convenient for us as both my wife and I work during the day. Chris also has been able to make necessary changes to designs to incorporate our feedback following these calls and share these promptly so that the whole design process was completed within a fortnight! Also worth mentioning that these design changes did not incur us any costs as they were part of the overall service package offered by Appropriate Design Solutions. Chris has taken all the Planning Application administration including submitting plans on our behalf and dealing with the Council's Planning Department which has been a great help as this is the first time my wife and I have been involved in this type of project, Chris continues to be on hand to support us through this project - I cannot recommend Chris and Appropriate Design Solutions enough - and especially if it is the first time that you are considering a building project.

Chris designed our extension for us. He listened to what we wanted to achieve and came up with much improved ideas for layout and use of space. His 3D modelling tool really helped me visualise how the space would work. He has also been a fount of knowledge for other aspects of the house; energy efficiency, sash windows etc etc. Patient, professional and very good at his job! Highly recommend!

We were recommended to Chris, Appropriate Design, as we had a build that we would like to explore and find a professional solution. Chris fitted perfectly, and designed just what we were looking for, and more. He supplied the full package from start to finish, and put a high amount of energy to communicate. These guys are great. We contacted Chris Piggott at Appropriate Design Solutions to design a sun/garden room to replace an old uPVC conservatory.
