GYA did a great job of turning my vision into reality, from helping me find the location through to the final designs. Their willingness to incorporate my ideas alongside their own, their innovative approach, and their positive attitude to solving problems made the project enjoyable from start to finish. Without their expertise I’d have stumbled dozens of times. They helped with everything from obtaining planning and advising on materials, to landscaping a tricky sloping plot to create a fantastic garden.

Gillespie Yunnie were recommended to me by a few people locally. I bought the almost derelict Bull Inn in 2018. it needed a full refurbishment, but i didn't want to do a standard job, i wanted to work as sustainably as i could. GY were incredibly supportive of my ideas and plans. helped in every way, I felt held by them. which is desperately needed on such a huge project. On the ground floor, we moved the loos, fitting a whole new kitchen incorporating the old pool room, made a new dining room. On top of that we fitted a heat recovery system in the kitchen to run the hot water on the ground floor, and solar on the roof to run the hot water upstairs. All carefully enclosed so no sounds can be heard from the bedrooms. Jackie Gillespie's experience in this was very helpful. We created 9 ensuite bedrooms over the top floors. The building is grade 2 listed and GY were great at guiding us through restoring and preserving what was left of the original features. which i was so keen to keep. We now have a stunning hotel which has just won Eco Hotel of the Year from The Times!

Swift Construction Management have worked with Gillespie Yunnie on a number of projects since 2016. They are without doubt one of the best architects in the SW and consistently deliver projects of the highest standards for their clients. We have always been impressed by how thoroughly they have thought through their projects and the level of detail on their drawings. They have a collaborative approach that fosters a positive and inclusive design team and take excellent care of their clients. We would recommend them very highly and look forward to any schemes that we work on together.

It was NOT an easy project, two houses in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall. Endless objections and complaints from the neighbours. Luckily we had Phil Yunnie and his team on the case every step of the way with ideas, suggestions and a great dose of much needed patience to change and adapt the designs, which were approved with very little alteration from the original plans. I have no hesitation in recommending Gillespie Yunnie Architects to anyone who's after a serious, meticulous and extremely professional team of architects.

We selected GYa to design a striking contemporary home to replace a semi-derelict 1950s house on a very difficult, steeply-sloping, coastal site. GYa was selected from a long list of about six firms and an interviewed shortlist of three firms, each with strong track records of designing upmarket coastal houses in Devon. We had no hesitation in selecting GYa after interview. Phil Yunnie gave us confidence that he would meet our brief: to design a really striking house, yet one which would be very "liveable" as a family home. We wanted to make "an investment in architecture", not just build a dull, generic box, but we did not want a house which felt more like an art gallery. Phil's final design, developed over several months of excellent client/architect collaboration, met our brief outstandingly, while navigating the practical difficulties of a constricting and steep site. For unrelated personal reasons, we ultimately decided not to redevelop the property.

GY Architects made a complicated project a joy to work on. They came up with some fantastic ideas that complimented our own wishes and helped us through the planning and listed building applications. The presentation of our planning and listed buildings application was exemplary and there were no objections from anyone - almost unheard of! They provided the service that we wanted and helped us through the fine details. We would happily recommend them as an architectural practise.
