Turning a wreck into a home is no easy task. Having worked with architects before on smaller projects we chose NOTO because we had seen and liked Oscar and Alice's work separately before they formed NOTO. We loved their commitment and dedication to simplicity of line and form as well as their attention to detail and respect for the integrity of materials. NOTO listened to how we lived our life, what we liked and disliked before drawing up ideas and then plans. They turned our half formed ideas into a coherent design that far exceeded our expectations. Professional throughout they ensured that we fully understood and were involved in all stages from demolition to final finish. They continually came up with clear, workable and often ingenious solutions within a limited budget that resolved problems and issues during the build without compromising on quality or architectural and aesthetic integrity. Behind a Victorian facade they created an elegant contemporary home filled with light, that is a joy to live in. Should the opportunity arise we would not hesitate to work with NOTO again and are delighted to be able to recommend them.

We cannot rate NOTO Architects highly enough. We approached Oscar and Theo in 2019 to begin the design phase of our Edwardian house renovation, which is now close to completion. NOTO listened to our ideas and in line with our design aesthetic pulled together a sketch board and plans that not only reflected our needs but incorporated fresh ideas. They have been extremely supportive and attentive throughout the project, helping us secure planning permission, guiding us through the tender process and now liaising with our builder. Their attention to detail and impeccable taste is second to none and together has helped us achieve a fantastic home.

Noto have been absolutely fantastic to work with. Our tired victorian semi needed a complete overhaul for growing family life as well as the new demands of working from home. Alice and Oscar’s attention to detail, creativity and collaborative nature - combined with patience, expertise and enthusiasm have turned what has not been a straight forward brief (right-of-light issues, demanding site constraints and a tight budget in turbulent climate) into something we are incredibly excited and proud to be building. Designing with clarity and sensitivity to our needs, leaning on their combined strengths of considered design and in-depth construction knowledge the process has been as stress free as possible. To any prospective customers, we really cannot recommend them highly enough and will certainly be insisting that family and friends go to Noto first!

We worked with NOTO on the rear extension to our Victorian ground floor flat. They helped us revisit the design of an existing planning permission, and then worked with us through tender and construction phase. We cannot fault the care and attention they gave our project. Their approach is hugely thoughtful, deeply sympathetic to the original building, but also creative. That combination means that the result is beautiful. It has eye-catching details that contrast but complement the Victorian house and shows careful thought was put into the choice of materials and the architectural expression. Importantly, we worked closely over many chats to ensure the project was conceived and delivered to budget. Finally, both Alice and Oscar were incredibly patient, personable, and reacted nimbly to our design tweaks during construction, and on-site questions. We would definitely work with NOTO again and have already recommended to others.

Alice & Oscar of Noto have been excellent to work with in the extension of our London Victorian terrace home. They have been great partners in working to prepare a unique scheme that reflected our vision, while also bearing in mind our budget. Their practical and creative approach throughout the planning, approval, tender, specification and project management phases has been measured and considered, reflecting their extensive experience in their field of both architecture and construction. There is no doubt our project would not have worked out as well as it has, without their expertise. We would happily use their services again and recommend them to others.
