The studio was founded by Mark Richards in 2012 - a Chartered Architect since 1994. Mark has been instrumental in the delivery of projects and has an enviable architectural experience. He has been a director within international design practices Aukett Associates and BDP, designing and leading large scale projects in the UK and overseas. He has a keen interest in mixed use typologies, sustainability and an aptitude for simplifying complex problems. Mark is the RIBA elected member of the Cambridge City Design Review panel and a supporter of the local RIBA chapter - the Cambridge Association of Architects. The studio dedicate their time to creating contemporary designs for spaces, buildings and places to live and work, guided by a sustainable design ethos. Recent project designs have been recognised for their creative approach, intelligent use of space and use of materials that have an empathy with a given context. Our use of materials, technology and construction brings clarity to projects, both visually and technically. We aim to minimise and use materials to optimise a balance between environmental impact and performance in use. We use passive principles to benefit designs and these underpin building performance and inform architectural narratives. These qualities, coupled with the very specific qualities associated with a sites location, orientation, geometry, historical and local context, make every project unique.
