THORNTON ARCHITECTURE STUDIO

This project saw a revaluation of the existing space in a 1951 property. Thornton Architects were invaluable in the initial stages of the project in enabling the owners to imagine the possibilities of the space, and in delivering solutions that were thrown up in the planning process. Further to that, they were able to call upon excellent professional advice through their networks which allowed decisions to be made quickly, informed by the best of advice. Thornton Architects were also able to recommend a construction company who were exactly the right people for the job, and the project was delivered on time and to budget, which given the restrictions of the pandemic was no mean feat. Thornton Architects delivered all plans on time and in a usable format, and were also on hand to give good advice throughout the build. We would highly recommend their services. The house has been transformed from a dark, inhibited space to a very lovely place to live, with light, space and utility, thanks in large part top the work of Thornton Architects.

Will, from Thornton Architecture Studio ran our new build from the beginning to the end. He brought us through the design process with such ease. His experience and attention to detail on design went beyond our expectations. His drawings were comprehensive, accurate and clear. There was very little to query when it came to the build stage. We had engaged with a Timber Frame company, Will was always there to keep the lines of communication open and attended site visits when needed. I cant recommend him enough. Will was the architect on the conversion of a derelict stable block into luxury holiday accommodation at Bryansford Cottage, Co. Down. Right from the start of the engagement he was attentive to our needs for the project, creative in his ideas and always willing to take feedback and readjust - he didn't simply come with a plan and 'impose' it - he worked with us to design something absolutely perfect for what we needed, and more importantly for what our guests needed. We attended pre-planning meetings at the local authority to ensure that the design for a historic building was one which could be supported by the planners - this was very helpful. He was also excellent at answering questions and challenges from the planners so that our application was approved. Will was on hand throughout the contracting process, liaising with our building contractor and on stand-by to answer all those last minute questions when the work was going on on-site. This was incredibly important because it meant that we had absolute comfort that the work was being carried out to the design specification. Will made himself available for more frequent site visits at critical stages of the build, he didn't design and disappear. Throughout, Will is knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I have worked with Will on 2 projects now. Very happy with communication and his designs. He sees layouts differently and makes great suggestions that I never would have thought of.
