My paintings are greatly influenced by the interaction between shape, light and shadow that I observe in nature. In particular, I love to wonder over water movement, the coast, clouds, and landscapes, taking it all in. Equally, architecture and everyday objects inspire my compositions. I absolutely love taking my daily musings and turning them into something beautiful and timeless to be pondered over. The real joy for me comes when a viewer creates their own narrative for a piece that could be wildly distant from the root of its creation in my own mind. I work on paper, canvas and linen, each carefully selected for their physical, ethical and ecological properties. I enjoy hand stretching my own canvases, ensuring that every element of the piece is finished with equal care and attention. Quality and longevity is one of my top priorities as an artist. All the paints and materials I use are archival and promote a long life of the finished piece.
