George grew up in Oxford and Durham and was in the workshop from an early age. Woodwork developed into a keen interest, and at 17 he had work exhibited at the International Woodworking and Turning Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. He also sold pieces at craft fairs in Durham. After completing a first class masters degree in physics, George decided that woodwork was where his passion really lay, and in 2005 Johnson Furniture was born. Now based in London, George makes furniture on an individual commission basis. The service is highly-personalised, with home visits and computer modelling working in close consultation with the client. He has delivered work as far afield as Edinburgh and Madrid.
