“Our out-dated bathroom was unsuitable for a disabled family member: the bath was too narrow and too high, and the shower area too small to accommodate a stool for sitting. Inspired by hundreds of Houzz pics, we wanted a beautiful bathroom that was also multi-functional and easily accessible. However disability specialists we approached could only think of the clinical hospital-style bathrooms they were used to. Local building services company Colcro Ltd met our needs with their “let’s see what we can do” attitude. Very professional, experienced in all the building services we needed - plumbing, tiling, electrical and joinery work, Project Manager Darren Coll embraced every idea we had, followed every stage of the project, and coordinated his team of trades people. His personal and professional integrity was impressive. A good listener, committed to seeing the project through, his fluid and flexible approach to problem solving gave us confidence when the odd gremlin struck. Colcro installed the extra wide and extra deep Japanese bath on a new sunken floor, height adjusted for our family member. A wet floor space next to the bath has an overhead rainforest shower providing ample room for a seat whilst showering. Beyond the room-wide glass shower doors our stylish wash room contains a wall hung toilet, countertop basin and wall-mounted taps. To enhance the feeling of space the bathroom door matched the washroom walls. Hydrotherapy jets, air jets, and chromatherapy lights in the bath, were combined with chromatherapy downlights in the ceiling for their health boosting properties. Finishing touches in the walnut floating shelves and high-quality Thibault wallpaper, raise the overall look and feel of the new bathroom to that of an elegant spa.
