Cube Lofts

Following a recommendation from someone-else on our street who had used Cube a few years earlier, Cube’s quote was the only one we got for our loft conversion in 2022. And now, well over a year since the main work was completed, we are absolutely delighted with the end result and can whole-heartedly recommend Cube to others. A key reason we chose Cube is that their builders, plumbers, electricians and decorators are contracted exclusively with them. Consequently, by the end of the project design phase, Cube are able to provide detailed schedules for the build work and for the payments as each stage is completed. Therefore, from the outset of the build phase, we knew what we’d be paying at each step, and when. Our project, to convert the loft space into a large bedroom with eves storage and a separate shower room, involved replacing the entire first floor ceiling. This necessitated that we move everything from the first floor down to the ground floor or into storage, and live elsewhere (close by) for three months. Remarkably, we were able to move back in on the intended day, and the rest of the work was then completed with minimal disruption for us. But it’s not that everything went exactly to plan! For example, the shared chimney stack turned out to be frighteningly unsupported on our side, tight space on a party wall required a change in construction of the junction, and there was a significant leak of mains water from an existing toilet. However, every time there was an unforeseen problem, our expert builder, Sebastian, came up with a solution. And anything that went wrong was swiftly put right. The final stage of the project was very protracted, mostly due to supplier delays outside Cube’s control. But ultimately, the snagging and every last little thing was finished to a very high standard. Our great thanks go to Sebastian, and to our fantastic Project Manager, Ann, for their expertise and professionalism and, not least, for their truly impressive negotiation skills in dealing with an awkward neighbour. 10 out of 10 for our Cube experience!

It starts well with Cube Lofts when they are keen to get your business. However, things fall down during the build, lack of communication and support for after build snagging and repairs. I have repeatedly contacted them and their nominated builders but with no response. My calls are being ignored for some snagging issues that need urgent attention. Very disappointed!

This is the second time we've used Cube and they are brilliant. We're really pleased with the quality of workmanship and the final result. We had really good support planning the project, with some good design input. Throughout the actual build they were responsive to issues and challenges, with really clear and frequent dialogue meaning both the schedule and the budget were really well managed.

Cube undertook a project for us recently which involved building a dormer onto our existing loft conversion and remodelling the entire area to include a new bathroom, windows, flooring, etc. The project was managed by Sally, and undertaken by Michal, who worked well together. Sally kept us informed on progress with a weekly meeting and everything ran to schedule with no delays. Michal has great pride in his work and is very skilled at multiple disciplines. They were both a pleasure to work with and I'd recommend them without hesitation. Thank you Michal & Sally.

We had a good experience working with Cube. They have been competent, decent, friendly and the quality of the finished product - our new loft extension - is very good. We would (and have) recommend Cube to friends & family. In the design phase of the project we worked with Mariusz and Tristan, who we found to be knowledgeable, gave us good ideas and clear guidance about the processes. Our project coincided with a period of raw materials shortages and price inflation and Cube did not attempt to renegotiate their quote, which was a good example of the fair, straightforward way they dealt with us. In the build phase our project manager was Sally and the building team was led by Pawel, both of whom I’d be happy to work with again. Pawel clearly takes pride in his work and believes in doing things correctly even if it makes his job more difficult in the near term (but has meant fewer things to come back and fix later). The quality of the finished work is very pleasing. We also found his building team to be polite and considerate. When Storm Eunice came through London they helped us tie down a rogue trampoline that was blowing around our back garden - clearly not part of the original job but very helpful. Thank you Marius, Tristan, Sally and Pawel … we look forward to working with you again on our next project.

We found Cube lofts to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Throughout the process they were a pleasure to do business with and we were so pleased that we had trusted them to build our extension and refurbish part of our house. At the design stage Tristan put forward ideas and produced very detailed estimates of the cost for the proposed work. There were no hidden costs and he explained what was required for planning permission and the build stages, sign off by building control etc. He ensured that there would be no surprise cost increases by suggesting that we had tree and drain surveys. This gave us confidence that Cube was a very professional organisation. There was no hard sell by cube, just very professional advice. Tristan also provided details of companies that they had worked with in the past eg for sliding doors/windows and under floor heating, which was extremely helpful. On the estimate cost schedule every item is included and it’s very clear which items you need to supply. We only had one cost increase which couldn’t be foreseen; we discovered an old soak away where the foundation was going. This was quickly resolved and didn’t hold up the build. The build came in on budget. During the design stage the estimate cost schedule was updated to reflect extra requirements/costs and savings as we tweaked the design; it was very transparent. The handover from the design team to the build team within Cube was seamless. We met the builder, Jaroszlav and the project manager, Sally, prior to the start of the build, talking through the build and the process. Jaroszlav ‘s team were fantastic, we can’t praise them enough, they were highly skilled, polite, extremely hard working and very tidy workers. Jaroszlav is very knowledgeable and highly skilled, there’s nothing that he can’t do! The initial build work was an L shaped extension, and refurbishing a dining room into shower room and utility, within a few weeks we could see how professional the builders were and so we decided to extend the build to: create a bathroom on our top landing, landscape the courtyard and build a front wall. Sally the project manager for the build was very attentive, visiting weekly and on hand for any questions. Sally ensured that we were aware when we needed to have decisions made, ensuring that the build process was very smooth. Jaroszlavs team worked so quickly that you need to be on top of getting the fixtures and fittings supplied on time. Sally organised the payment schedule, producing invoices when each stage of the process was complete. This process was very helpful, as you know when each stage is being worked on and it smooth’s out the build costs. We would have no hesitation in recommending Cube for any building work. You would get peace of mind, value for money and quality workmanship.

We had an excellent experience with CUBE. This was a very substantial loft conversion and remodelling within the existing house-:involving opening up into the original loft, installing a new staircase, construction of three dormers and an entire new roof to the house, creating a large room in the new loft space + new shower room en-suite, retaining a separate under-eaves storage area. From the initial consultation, CUBE understood our vision, and respected our concern (obesssion?) with detail and quality-- of design, materials and finish. The new staircase form first floor to second exactly matches the original, so that the Edwardian style house looks as if it was built this way in the first place. Lower down, in the previously existing house, CUBE also carried out the conversion of a bedroom into both a new en-suite shower room to the master bedroom, and a separate large walk-in wardrobe and storage area. We now also have a newly created office (from a previous back bedroom). The whole house now works far better, with 3 bath- or shower- rooms where there was previously only one bathroom, and retaining plenty of storage space beyond the new loft rooms where there was previously only a storage loft accessed by ladder. CUBE followed strict Covid protocols during the build, isolating a part of the house for us to use and stay separate from the team. We only needed to move out and stay with friends for a couple of weeks. Inevitably, there were some significant problems to be negotiated during the course of a large project, but these were resolved satisfactorily. CUBE's teams in both management and build were warm, professional and collaborative. We are delighted with the results.

Cube did an excellent job building a loft conversation and removing a couple of chimney breasts elsewhere in the house that were no longer needed. The project was well managed and to a high standard. We’re very pleased with the result. Highly recommend them and will definitely use them again

I used Cube on a first floor side/loft/rear extension during a 9mths project in 2020. The project team that did the build were the best I have come across - punctual, reliable, responsive, adaptable, high quality standards, and amazing aftercare support. Cube Lofts did an excellent job for us and we would highly recommend them if considering home redevelopment and/or extension in SW London / Surrey. We rate them 4.5 out of 5 with the only negative being lengthy delays in completing snagging works but otherwise the quality of delivery was top drawer. The project was delivered broadly on time despite Covid, with the original scope coming in on budget (unexpected costs the job progressed). We have subsequently recommended CUBE to two separate friends who appointed them and had similar positive experiences. Working with a small but professional business like Cube meant dealing with skilled and genuine people who care about quality and were aligned to the project's success, working with us through inevitable build issues, but offering solutions rather than simply problems. CUBE patiently worked through our design brief through to planning submissions. Tristan (sales & design lead) clearly articulated the scope of works and impact of certain decisions. We received regular updates throughout and secured planning with no conditions. Tristan then handed over to Sally (PM) and Piotr (Master Builder) with Mariusz (owner) providing oversight. Works started March 2020 before the first lockdown. CUBE were prepared and continued uninterrupted. Sally, Piotr and his team were superb during this period, with an exceptional work ethic (6 days a week and full days 8am-6pm), being polite and patient, courteous to neighbours and tidying up. They were highly proactive, regularly forward purchasing materials as supply shortages kicked in. Various unexpected costs materialised during the build including insufficient power supply, defective roof tiles, drains and joists. Sally/Piotr came up with credible cost effective solutions and were fair/ transparent with on costs breakdowns rather than generic bills with hidden margins. As we were expecting our first child in late October, it was essential we stuck to programme. Sally kept a firm hand of the project with weekly detailed progress briefings. Ultimately, we lost a few weeks due to material supply delays (kitchens, white goods etc) and although some subcontractors were unreliable, Piotr kept his team focused and came up with workarounds to recoup lost time without compromising on quality. Main works PC'd as our daughter arrived in early November. This left the snagging list and although CUBE left us in peace for a couple of weeks, the team moved onto different projects and it proved challenging to get them to return, taking several months to clear the list off. In hindsight had a full crew been made available for 2/3 days then most would have been resolved. Cube acknowledged the snagging works went on unnecessarily long. Overall, however, we would definitely use CUBE again and continue to refer them to others. A big thankyou to Mariusz, Sally & Tristan and likewise Piotr, Andrew, Josef and all the build team.
