Our project was to demolish the roof space over our garage and utility room and build a new bedroom and bathroom. Our property is quite old and has a lot of character so our number 1 objective was to make sure the extension blended-in well with existing house. MARS achieved this superbly well. Our friends and family all say they cannot spot the difference between the old and the new areas of the house. Prior to the building work starting we had done a lot of research into the materials we wanted MARS to use. They worked with us very collaboratively on this aspect and added some good suggestions to complement what we had already come up with. By way of an example, we were struggling to find the right hanging tiles to blend with the existing ones on the front of our house. We had been searching for these over several years as we needed them for maintenance purposes as well as the extension. MARS came up with a good suggestion for a supplier who they thought might be able to help. We visited the supplier and got exactly what we needed, which was by far the best match we had ever been able to find. Another key objective for our extension was that we wanted high quality materials and workmanship. We were certainly not disappointed. Any experts who inspected the property (including building control) all commented that it was clearly built to a high standard. Another great aspect of working with MARS was the team. They were nice guys who were respectful of us and our home and we felt comfortable having them in our house. The foreman (Kieran) was a great guy, very knowledgeable, personable and had excellent attention to detail. He was a delight to work with. Ricky (the owner) was also extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of building work and was excellent at coming up with solutions when we hit issues or problems. We always felt confident that if a problem arose, Ricky would have a clever idea about how to overcome it and he always did. He also had an extensive network of third-party contractors and specialists to call upon when they were needed, which was reassuring. Ricky was also very ‘on the ball’ with regard to the cost of the work. Inevitably, there were additional costs that arose during the build either because we asked for extra items or because they were only costed on a provisional basis in the original quote. However, there were never any nasty surprises on cost increases as everything was agreed before the additional cost was incurred. Consequently, we did not have any issues with settling up the final sums at the end of the build. Overall, we are very satisfied with what we have got - Thank you MARS!

Ricky and the Mars team have completed 3 awesome jobs over the last 9 years and I can certainly recommend them. And over the years I see the same faces which goes to show what a good bunch they are. From building fitted cupboards and shelves, to a massive single story extension and a lastly a bespoke 30sqm Garden Room. He treats all his jobs seriously and has significant personal pride in what he’s building and delivering to his customers. Time and time again, Ricky comes up with new ideas and innovative solutions which we’ve taken on board and glad we did - especially around lighting. Looking forward to sharing my loft conversion plans with MARS very soon. Can’t recommend them enough!

We selected Mars as our contractor following a tender process for our new build. When I met Ricky for the first time I really liked hearing about his approach to a project, in particular his attention to detail and desire to deliver a well executed build. He has excellent knowledge and experience of building energy efficient houses. Ricky and his team were brilliant at every stage of the build. Communication was good and timely; care was taken for the site to be tidy and well organised and the quality of the finish is outstanding. The team worked hard over the 16 month project and there was never a time where the site was empty with nothing happening. Mars collaborated well with us and our architects and delivered us our dream house. We had a fixed budget for our build and our project was delivered to contract with no hidden surprises. I would recommend Mars without hesitation.
