About Us

James Lear of Arundel would like to welcome you to our first shop located in Nailsworth Gloucestershire. Inspired by an extended traditional land-working Sussex family over many generations.... The name James Lear of Arundel comes from Harriette's Grand father, (Polly's great grandfather) James Lear left the family's Ironworks in Tortington Arundel along with their Ironmongers shop in Arundel High Street to open a Farm contracting business in nearby Barnham. He took with him a Traction engine and threshing machine.... alongside his business he was a skilled cabinet maker and upholsterer, this influenced our wish to stock goods made by artisans with the sense of rural British tradition. We believe in originality and that you will find many items with a story behind them, whether they are unique functional pieces, or upcycled .... recycled or just different from what you generally find on the high street. Many of our products are not for sale elsewhere
