I strongly recommend The Garden Builders, who did a first-class job of re-constructing and re-planting my front garden. It was a relatively small job but Mark Gilmore and his colleagues took a lot of trouble to get all the details right. I am a fastidious client, and they dealt with all my picky comments efficiently and with good humour. I'd certainly employ them again.

I can highly recommend these guys, they did a fantastic job on our garden. Mark who managed the job gave us great advice and was always very organised and efficient. His team were always punctual, tidy and worked very hard on site. We are so delighted with the results.

The Garden Builders transformed our tired and depressing back garden into an elegant, welcoming space with a discrete but effective drainage system. We were delighted with Mark Gilmore's design and advice including the kind of stone that would best suit our needs, taste and budget. We also very much appreciated the initiative he took in having an outdoor portaloo brought onsite so the garden building team (who clearly travelled to and from work wearing masks) would not need to step into the house.
The installation was headed by the ever cheerful Lyuben. Lyuben and his team always arrived on time, worked very hard and left the area clean and tidy at the end of each day. We could not be more delighted. This is a highly professional and well-run operation. Five stars.

Mark and his team transformed our rear terrace and the front area of our house in 2019. They did a great job from start to finish and not only worked up a great design with us, but quickly and efficiently carried out the works to a very high standard.

The Garden builders have built most of my projects since 2006 . Projects have been between around £25k to £400k amounting to millions of pound of project value over the years.
They build top quality gardens, they work collaboratively, their operatives are highly skilled, knowledgeable, have a detailed/perfectionist approach to their work, arefficient and courteous taking pride in their work.
I am exacting and so are my clients and they never fail to deliver at the top level. They continue to maintain many of my projects and continue to have a long relationship with my clients.
I attach a number of images of projects we have collaborated on.

Garden Builders came to carry out work on our garden in mid December 2018 after a designer had produced a scaled drawing for the site. The garden is quite a large area and there were 3 different sections of the rear garden which Garden Builders said it would cost £65K to get done. It took 1 month to get the tiling done and some of the clear out of the garden. They said they don't deal with Tree Pruning and they would hire another company to get this done which they did, they had Red Squirrel prune and cut down a couple of trees. Garden Builders do request funds for the project prior to actually executing the work. Phase 1 being around 50K was almost done but they didn't finish completely. A week before they were off to another site/job they said they won't get the garden done at this point or any of Phase 2 and it was now mid January. We met with them in April after requesting a follow up meeting given they had taken full payment of Phase 1 even though it wasn't completely finished and they said they can try to finish in June and now they came back to say the Fall, their not sure.
The work itself wasn't top notch, with the tiling they left grout marks all over the tiles, the wooden tables they built were the wrong size, they didn't level any of the garden and their communication abilities were clearly lacking given the project manager in the office didn't correspond to the site manager so we were always needing to communicate to both.
When paying this much money, you really feel they should be Outstanding. The lighting was done horribly, they didn't even show me the lights being put in prior and said that's done whether I liked it or not??
It's a clear example of a typical company that do not know how to do a job properly but definitely know how to market themselves with the Chelsea Design Show and the fellow garden community.
I honestly wouldn't recommend them at all and I am still awaiting for them to show me how to use the irrigation put in and remove the grout marks left all over the tiles. There was a list of 7-8 items they didn't do well.
Given I paid Garden Builders fully, I am really struggling to get the £5-10K they took for the work that wasn't completed.
The pictures on their website and list of all the awards they have won looks soo impressive but BEWARE - its definitely not a company I would work with again or recommend to anyone. Picture below is what the designer produced, we only recently hired a new landscaper who fingers crossed will finish what Garden Builders could not finish.

The Garden Builders won a tender to build a challenging double roof terrace for a penthouse in central London. The planning and build to completion took nearly two years and their approach throughout was highly professional, bringing the project in on time, on budget and with a large amount of tricky logistics to solve. The result are two stunning terraces benefitting from immaculate attention to detail. Highly recommended.

Garden Builders built a large London garden for me and implemented my plan and specification to a very high standard.
I find that they work in a collaborative way , and always have creative solutions to any problems that may arise.
Their strengths are good communication, efficiency, quality craftsmanship and professionalism.
I would definitely use them again.

I have worked with the Garden Builders on several projects now and I know that I am in safe hands when they are building one of my designs. I know that they will call me if they have any queries, but at the same time they are great at resolving any issues that may crop up during the build. Most importantly the quality of their work is really good but on another note I can relax knowing that they will leave the client's house clean and tidy at the end of every working day.

I used Jack from the Garden Builders which is a local business to where I live. I had them completely redesign and construct my small Fulham patio garden. Jack provide a very helpful and complete service from start to finish. He was very good at keeping me informed on progress ( by email and photos) and nothing was too much trouble. I was also very pleased with the final result. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

We are disappointed to hear that you are unhappy with both the works and service provided by The Garden Builders.
As mentioned in our last correspondence, we would be more than happy to resolve the issue using BALI’s dispute resolution service. This is a free impartial adjudication process that reviews your claims against the works carried out by ourselves, we would be more than happy to take part in this process to provide closure to all parties concerned.
To be clear, our payment terms were clearly stated on the accepted quotation and you paid the interim and final payment in full, indicating that you were happy we had completed works for phase 1. As you are aware, the overall project had to be split in two separate phases through no fault of our own and it was made perfectly clear what works were to be included in both phases along with a clear and concise breakdown of costs per phase.
There were no payments made for un-finished works. We decided not to proceed with phase two and not to see the whole project though, as did the designer. We had discussed the possibility of carrying out phase 2 but not until the works were agreed/finalised and we felt confident there would be no further delays whilst on site. As a result, we were unable to give an exact indication of when we may return.
All the best,
The Garden Builders
