Oliver James Garden Rooms

Avoid like the plague. My family and I had a very bad experience with this company, which caused us no end of stress and disrupted my children's lives for weeks, as we had to move out due to having no heating and no kitchen. I am still finding issues months on from completion. Very unorganised ie; skips not organised dumped waste on parks trust without permission had them knocking on my door threatening legal action. Poor time keeping job took 3 months longer than agreed. They subcontract most if their work out. Poor workmanship ie; my oven is balancing and not secured I have sent a video to James and asked why this is like it is replied " no Idea" and it appears is now ignoring me . Kitchen fitter is ignoring my calls. Charged way over the top for additional works ie; Charged me £800 for a piece of steel that I later find from a friend should actually cost a fraction of that amount. Honestly I could go on and on so please if you value your sanity use someone else.

My garden room and kitchen have just been completed and I am delighted with the results. Every day, when I come down stairs it’s like being on holiday...can this really be my house?! Overall the company are great, offering a personal touch and everything was clearly set out from the outset. This was a big undertaking and quite stressful at times, but I was so pleased that I had decided to ask Carrie and James to project manage everything from the outset. There were a few problems with the kitchen fitters but thank goodness I just had to wait patiently and let the professionals sort everything out....even if it did mean working in the evenings and weekends. I would highly recommend this company, thank you!

It was not a decision we took lightly to go ahead with a garden room for the back of our house. Firstly, it is a big expense and because of this it had to flow well with the rest of the house and work as a live-able space. We’ve seen a few extensions where a room is just plonked on the back of a house and never feels integral to the rest of the home. It took us about a year to decide it was the right thing to do. From day one we decided to go with Oliver James. We were impressed with how James just deals with garden rooms which means he comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge as to how best make use of the existing building and the new area being created. We spent a lot of time planning and deciding how the layout would work as an open plan family space and to give us the feel of the outside coming in. We wanted to move the existing small kitchen from the front of the house to the back and make it an integral part of the family home. James took time to understand our vision and helped us realise this with suggestions and input as to how best to get what we now have. If we had an idea, he helped us run with it. We had the work done back in 2017. The team were on site every day prompt at 8am. This gave us the opportunity to have a daily chat as to what was happening that day before heading off to work. James followed this up with weekly site visits. Plus, he was always contactable if we had a query. Although we’d never experienced building work within the home before it wasn’t nearly as painful as the horror stories you hear about. We had to live in our home while the work was undertaken which could have been nightmare but it was OK and exciting to see the progress being made each day and week. As I mentioned, part of our remit was to bring the outside in and to give us a feeling of space. As you can see from the pictures this has certainly been achieved and a worthwhile investment, especially with the summer we had last year.

We had such a great experience working with Oliver James. The staff were hard working, polite, clean and always on time. They really listened to what we wanted and created the most beautiful garden room. I was heavily pregnant during the extension and they ensured everything was on time, mess was to a minimum and they kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. We had our garden room built in 2016 and due to personal circumstances sadly have to move to be closer to family now. We were so lucky to have the garden room as it was the selling feature of our house. We had 7 viewings and all 7 put in an offer and we were lucky enough to get above our asking price. Our house was on the market for 2 weeks it did not need to be on any longer. All viewers commented on how the garden room was the most amazing feature. It is so tastefully done and creates the most amazing open space. We also were able to create a great relationship with James which will continue. Prices were good compared to other quotes we received and all prices were broken down into proper stages so we knew what we were paying for at what point. We were given all paperwork in regards to planning applications etc and Oliver James ensures they take full responsibility of this and get everything checked so there are no issues. I highly recommend using them you wont be disappointed!

James was fantastic to work with - we really enjoyed and got great value from discussing our ideas with him during the initial process of designing the room. When work commenced the team were friendly and polite, and responsive and understanding to our particular requirements, which is really important when making such an investment. When we encountered inevitable challenges and problems, James was supportive and the team ensured items were addressed. The final product is an outstanding addition to our home, totally transforming our house and our family lifestyle. It is a space our family always uses and everytime I get home from work I can't quite believe the change! I try and work from home as much as possible! Finally, James and Carrie were just great people, and this is hugely important when deciding to work with someone on a daily basis for 6 months! Great experience working with Oliver James Garden Rooms. James and Carrie are both very friendly and easy to communicate with and always responded quickly to any questions we had along the way. All the workers we had on site during the build worked quickly and efficiently and were very tidy. We are over the moon with our garden room, which has been built and finished to a very high standard, and we would definitely recommend Oliver James.

We had a garden room completed by Oliver James in September 2016. We found James and his employees working on our project to be professional and courteous at all times, always arrived on time and made sure the site was left clean before they left each day.
