We engaged Ellie at Epsom Social food hall and her work transformed the space to look and feel 10 times better than it did beforehand, and at a cost that was very reasonable and within budget. Ellie helped me design a new office/study and she was absolutely wonderful. She quickly brought my vision to life with mood boards and gave me several suggestions for each piece from a range of suppliers at different price points. She even hunted through several antique shops to find the perfect sideboard. Ellie also ordered and coordinated deliveries and returns, so it was a fairly stress-free process on my end. I couldn't be happier with the result and it wouldn't have been possible without Ellie. A pleasure to work with and I'd highly recommend!

We asked Ellie to help with design and redecoration in our Victorian house: the living room, hall, stairs and landing, kitchen and bathroom. We're entirely delighted with the end result, which has breathed new life into the house, is smart and beautifully put together – and also, somehow, still feels comfortably like us! Ellie took the time to understand what we liked, and her designs got the feel just right; we couldn't have done this without her. She also suggested practical changes (rehanging doors, repositioning radiators) that improved the space. Ellie found us some great new pieces of furniture, which all work really well with what we had and wanted to keep. She has a wealth of contacts with high-quality suppliers and contractors, she’s pragmatic about where to spend the budget and is a delight to work with. Absolutely recommended.

There’s a new phrase we’ve started saying to anyone who’s having works done: ‘You need an Ellie Horwell.’ Ellie is an absolute necessity. Her design work is stunning (have you seen what she did for The Curtain?) but she is flexible too, taking the time to adjust and re-adjust so you are completely satisfied. I remember standing in the empty loft space on a freezing morning while she measured out different variations of bedroom, bathroom and dressing room, again and again until we were happy (it took hours). She spotted flaws in the building work which would have cost us so much more if we hadn’t raised it at the time. She has foreseen issues no one else did. We absolutely lucked out choosing her because she is indispensable. But she’s not just a designer. She coordinates, she organises, she arranges and facilitates, from physically sorting the pieces of our kitchen delivery to mapping out old and new electricity points. She outdid herself standing between us, the builders and a myriad of suppliers - interpreting timings, soothing stresses, fighting our corner when necessary. We felt completely supported and sided with during a very stressful process with humour and friendship. I would use her again without question and recommend her to all my friends. She deserves every award.

It's very important to get on with anyone providing services in your home - the slightest problem and you are left dealing with it for years afterwards. I chose Ellie based on one tiny colour choice in a picture on her website (which I loved) and though her own personal style is slightly different to mine it took her just two visits to understand and translate my style in to one of her splendid designs. When I say splendid; this out of some tricky scenarios in a difficult room. I really did throw her some curveballs and she took her time, thought about it and got it very, very right. Both my daughter and I LOVED it, and we felt such glee when her drawings came through on the computer. Her ability to put colours together is excellent and she likes to think outside the box. Pictures to follow when project complete. Best of all, Ellie has that old-fashioned charm and politeness when dealing with you which is so hard to find these days. Just extremely polite and knowing how to deal with you in a proper grown up sort of way. I only meant to go one room and I can see what's happening, slowly but surely, I will have her working her way through my house. She's already on project number two and I can see a friendship developing. Sometimes we have a little giggle and none of it seems like work at all. Well done Ellie you talented woman!

Ellie’s experience and knowledge shows. She gave me some really clear direction and ideas to start refurbishing my new home. She instantly understood what I was trying to create even though I wasn’t sure how to describe it myself, and turned it into some brilliant drawings and advice to set me on my way.
