Solent Kitchen Design

We wanted our dated kitchen replaced and chose Solent Kitchen Design (SKD) to undertake the project. We chose this company after speaking to them and learning that it was a family run business established over many years. They also explained that the kitchen fitters are directly employed by them and that gave us confidence that the work would be completed satisfactorily. Throughout the consultation process, when we were still deciding what we wanted, the owner David and designer Chris were very accommodating, listening to our requirements, and also offering advice and ideas to help us finalise on a design. Although we had gone in with an initial layout for the kitchen based on certain criteria, Chris was able to come up with a better layout that still met all our needs. He and David were also able to advise between the various appliances in the ranges that they offered, including all the “fancy” features that come with the current designs. In terms of kitchen units, SKD use a couple of high quality established kitchen cabinet vendors, and we chose the range by Stoneham. The rip-out and installation went smoothly and started on the date it was meant to start. All the tradesmen employed on the job were courteous, worked hard and generally tidied up after themselves. It was obvious that the two fitters in particular took pride in their work and took time to get the job done right. They even spent a good deal of time getting the fit of a custom-made larder cabinet just right and took care to ensure that at the interface between the new kitchen and the existing house blended as seamlessly as possibly, even matching a small piece of skirting to our existing hall skirting. The guys would also check with us during the installation at decision points, such if a small detail could potentially be completed in alternative ways, rather than just ploughing on regardless. The appliances are great and have already made our lives much better. The finished kitchen is spectacular and we are extremely happy with the result. The Stoneham cabinets look fantastic and feel very well built and sturdy. The appliances that were recommended and that we selected are great and have already improved our experience in the kitchen. In conclusion we would thoroughly recommend Solent Kitchen Design to anyone requiring a mid to high end kitchen for their home.

Solent Kitchen Design are superb! Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. They gave me a schedule of works and stuck to it. The fitters, plumber and electrician were top class and always left the area spotless at the end of the day. Having heard nightmare stories from other people about their kitchen experiences I was delighted to find a kitchen company who go above and beyond. Excellent design team, taking all thoughts and opinions into account and making creative suggestions based on years of experience. Work started on schedule, installers are prompt and reliable, were always happy to keep us up to speed and ask if they were ever unsure about something. Have had two kitchens and three bathrooms installed int two different houses so far, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend SKD.

We asked David at Solent Kitchen Design to come up with a completely new design for our kitchen, including knocking through to the dining room to create a functional & very contemporary kitchen which would become the hub of our home. What David came up with was superb & ticked every box we requested. The finished product is just quality throughout & is frankly, stunning! The tradesmen have been with the company for many years & take real pride in their work & it shows in the finished article. From the moment we walked through the showroom door, through to completion of the project and aftercare, we have been so impressed by Solent Kitchen Design. David, the Kitchen designer we worked with, was very patient and listened carefully to our requirements and ideas before suggesting ideas of his own, based on his many years of experience. The result is a kitchen that not only looks beautiful and is exactly what we wanted, it also works beautifully in practical terms.
